As an Invesgator you will delve deeper into the web of life as you
make comparisons between nave Massachuses species and
those from other places. You and your team may act as mentors
to younger campers, explore sites o-trail and might even climb
the re tower! Develop new skills and expand your horizons by
adding a specialty campCreave Arts, Farm Mania, Science,
and/or Adventure Camp session to your summer.

About Nature Day Camp...Let beauful Moose Hill WildlifeSanctuary be your childs neighborhood play space! Our goal is
to connect children to nature and let them have fun through a
blend of outdoor exploraons, non-compeve games, focused
acvies, walks/hikes and cras. On warm days, we play watergames like Drip, Drip, Splash and keep to the shaded forest.
Each age group of Nature Camp enjoys dierent daily topics
though all groups enjoy the same weekly theme. The content
and objecves are dierent at each level with the goal to
deepen each childs knowledge and awareness throughout the
summer and over the years.
Campers are welcome to aend all 12 dierent weekly sessions,
each with its own theme. Dates and themes are described on
the next page.

Our preschool program is designed to encourage your childs
curiosity, increase sensory awareness and provide an introduc-
on to outdoor invesgaons. Lead instructors have specic
training and experience working with preschoolers. Children
must be poy-trained and be 3 years old before June 15th.
Pack a snack and lunch. Full Day Peepers have an hour lie
down/rest me aer lunch. Preschoolers are always more com-
fortable if they can aend more than one session.
Please note that preschool specialists are not scheduled for the
Extended Day Opons. Please speak with the Director before
registering for this opon.

Super Senses June 11 15 Week 1
What would it be like to see in ultraviolet? Can you imagine
smelling food a mile away. Learn which animals have super
senses while you test your ownfollow a scent trail, see
in the dark, and more during this acve week of games and
experiments. Please notethere is no Peeper group oered
this week, but Science Camp is oered for ages 9 - 13. Public
schools are sll in session.
Wild or Mild June 18 22 Week 2
A tabby and a ger, a corgi and a coyote, learn about the wild
relaves of some common domescated animals what char-
acteriscs do they share and what makes them respond so dif-
ferently to people. Make a simple animal costume.
*Snow Day Plan: Register now and we will adjust the fee by $45
per snow day used by your school.
Hide or Seek June 25 29 Week 3Snapping turtles hang out unl their food oats by while kes-
trels search the skies. Learn the techniques used by animals to
nd food and stay safe. Enjoy a scavenger hunt, role-playing
games and join the camp-wide Predator-Prey game!
The Wonders of Water July 2, 3, 5, 6 Week 4
Fish make the water their home. Rocks are shaped by water.
Water is more than something you drink as youll learn through
experiments and exploraons. No camp on Wed, July 4th.

Born to Build July 9 13 Week 5
Beavers build dams, birds make nests out of everything from
grass to spit, wasps chew wood into paper-mache animals
build all sorts of homes so they can stay warm, be protected,
and raise their young. Try your hand at construcng a home
for a shrew!
Show Os! July 16 20 Week 6
Although animals spend a lot of me hiding so they can stay
safe, at other mes they put on displays to claim mates or take
on the role of leader of the pack. Imaginaon games and cras
have you mimicking some of natures biggest show-os!
Stripes, Spots & Spirals July 23 27 Week 7
Both plants and animals have paerns that not only provide
protecon but help living things grow. Explore branch pat-
terns in trees, the camouaging techniques of herds, and a
secret paern in pine cones. Make an item for our camou-
age trail and then see what you can discover!
In the Dark July 30 August 3 Week 8
Whether you are an animal that moves around at night or
one that moves underground or deep in the ocean, there are
special challenges to nding your way in the dark. Test senses
other than sight and discover what life is like for moles, owls,
and squid.
A Buggy Good Time August 6 10 Week 9
Invesgate the secret world of insects living in our forests and
ponds. Use bug boxes and magnifying glasses to get a closer
look. Search for bugs while playing games that show you how
insects eat, hide, move and nd mates.
Creep, Leap, & Fly August 13 17 Week 10
Whether an animal pads along on paws or ings their wings
to the air, how animals get around keeps them safe, helps
them nd food, and allows them to explore their environ-
ment. Make cras that move and play games that keep you
moving!
Walk and Roll August 20 24 Week 11
Think of all the ways things in nature get moved about
water carries rocks and soil to new locaons, birds and mam-
mals transport seeds, the wind blows down trees. Wander the
trails looking for natures transportaon connecons. Havefun trying your moves in our obstacle course!
Cute, Cuddly or Not August 27 31 Week 12
Baby animals appear to be cuddly but are they? Discover the
survival adaptaons of dierent young animals. Bring in your
baby picture to share! Sharon Public Schools (grades 1 - 12) are
in session on Wednesday and Thursday only of this week.

learn what it means to be a farmer. Explore the elds and

Explore the farm property and learn about how this habitat
is home to many dierent creatures. What hidden secrets
lie beneath a leaf or within the soil? Whos leaving those
tracks and where did they go? Perhaps, the forest edge will
tell me so!
Fresh Food I July 23 27 Week 7
Discover the dierence between fruits and vegetables,
what they need to ourish, when and how to pick them
and why they are healthy for us. Visit a cow, learn the

creatures that crawl, scurry, y, slime, and devour. Learn

Challenge yourself and work on your leadership skills while
having fun with other teens! Together you will enjoy group
building games, work on a service-learning project, and develop
kid-friendly nature acvies that will help you to succeed as a
Leader-in-Training (LIT). Enjoy a van excursion from 3p - 6p on
Thursday aernoon. This program is open to all teens, not only
those who will be LITs. Those who aended this program last
year are welcome to aend!

About Extended Day...The regular Moose Hill Camp day

window because of the train. There is no window beyond
6p. Preschool specialists are not on duty during these
opons. Contact the camp director if you have quesons.
Pre-registraon is required.
Our camp instructors enjoy being with campers during
these informal periods. The schedule is:
8 - 9a Before Care Opon: Campers are welcome to
bring their breakfast, read or play.
3 - 4p Late Opon: A kosher snack is provided fol-
lowed by a choice me of play or reading in the
camp yard.
4 - 5:30 Aer Care Opon: Campers may choose from
a variety of acvies that may include games in the
pine grove, a stroll along the trails, resul games, or
cras. Signs are posted at the camp gate informing
parents who arrive during this me period as to where
to nd the campers.

Are you looking for job experience or volunteer service hours?
If you enjoy children and want to learn new skills, please apply
to join our dynamic group of Leaders-in-Training (LITs)! Parci-
pate in training sessions, lead games, assist camp groups, andlearn to teach acvies. State regulaons require LITs to be at
least 14 years old as of June 15th.
A minimum commitment of three Nature Camp and/or Farm
Mania sessions is required. If this is your rst year as an LIT and
you do not register for Leadership Camp, your rst two weeks
must be consecuve. You must aend the training session on
Sunday, June 10th from 1 - 3:30p. A $10 per session discount is
given to those teens who aend our Leadership Camp.

ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATION: Your conrmaon,
forms and parent informaon packet will be emailed
to you unless you specically request snail mail.
ABOUT US: Moose Hill Camp began in 1949 and is located at
Mass Audubons Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary. We provide awelcoming environment with fewer than 120 campers each
week. Campers are encouraged to play with siblings andother children of dierent ages during free play periods. Thecamp is held primarily out-of-doors and the nature centeris used for rainy moments. The 20 miles of trails and variedhabitats of the sanctuary are ours to explore.
CAMPER REQUIREMENTS: Due to the outdoor and explor-
atory nature of our camp program, campers must be able to
move about on uneven terrain. Campers are expected to par-
cipate meaningfully in age-appropriate acvies, including
nature study. All campers must follow stated behavior expec-
taons and safety rules. If you have any quesons regarding
your childs ability to parcipate fully in our camp program,
contact the camp director.
AGE/GRADE: Camp age is determined as of June 15. Pre-
school Peepers must be 3 and poy-trained. Discoverers
must be 4 prior to January 30th and entering kindergarten.
Campers are grouped by age depending on enrollment.
STAFF and RATIOS: Camp director, Kay Andberg, has been
with us since 1993. Her children grew up at Moose Hill Camp
and she wants yours to enjoy the same quality programs.
Sta are selected for their maturity and caring atude to-
wards children. Most are college students majoring in science
or educaon. All sta undergo background checks and train-
ing in safety, child development and nature study. The few
junior sta that are hired are selected for their maturity andare paired with instructors. Instructors are cered in rst
aid and CPR. Two sta lead o-site programs.
BUDDY REQUESTS are intended for children who would oth-
erwise feel too uncomfortable to aend camp. One request
per camper is honored when possible and only if made in
wring at least one week prior to the session start. Campers
must be the same age as of June 15 and both must request
each other.
CAMP LICENSE: We are licensed by the Sharon Board of Health
and comply with the regulaons of the Department of Public
Health. We are accredited by the American Camp Associaon
and adhere to its addional safety standards.
POLICIES: You may request a copy of our sta background
check, healthcare, discipline, bullying and grievance policies.
MEMBERSHIP helps to meet our missionProtecng the Na-ture of Massachuses and connecng children to nature. To
receive the member rate, your membership of family-level or
higher, must be current through your last session. You can join
or update your membership on the camp registraon form.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Moose Hill provides nancial assis-
tance to campers based on demonstrated economic need and
available funds. Financial assistance is limited to one session
per child. The majority of funds are reviewed on April 25th.
Contact us for an applicaon.
PAYMENT PLANS: Please contact the camp oce if you
would like to discuss a payment plan.
DEPOSITS of $75 per week are required. All deposits are non-
refundable. See the transfer policy below. When registering
aer May 15th, payment is required in full. It is your responsi-
bility to know your school calendar.
DEADLINE: All health forms and the balance of your fees are
due on or before May 15th, unless special arrangements are
made with the Camp Registrar. Those registering aer May
15th pay in full and a specic form deadline will be set. A Late
Fee of $20 per camper is automacally accrued for any late or
incomplete forms and/or payments. No camper is allowed in
camp unless all health forms, waivers and payments are com-
plete. If deadlines are missed, we cannot guarantee your spot
TRANSFER POLICY: Transfers are allowed up to 4 weeks prior
to a session start, aer which me there are no transfers. A
$25 fee is charged for each session transferred.
REFUND and CANCELLATION POLICY: Refunds are not made
for dismissal, failure to aend, absence or sick days. All can-
cellaons must be made in wring. If you cancel prior to May
15th, you will be given a full refund minus the deposit. If you
cancel prior to 4 weeks of the rst day of your session, you
will receive a 50% refund only if the program is full and we ll
your slot. No refunds are given aer this date.
