President’s Report
By the time you read this we will have had at least 3 Moose meetings.
Committee Chairpersons have been selected and are hard at work. Keep up
the momentum to make this Lodge the absolute best for all our members.
The Memorial Day picnic was well attended, and I believe everyone had a great
time. Our roofing repair project has either been completed or is near
completion. It comes with a 20-year guarantee which give me peace of mind.
We can now get started on making some much needed upgrades to both the
Social Quarters and Ballroom. Interior painting, carpet replacement, bar rails,
and perhaps some new chairs.
I am seeing many new faces and have met several new members these past
couple months. Remember, one of our primary and shared responsibilities is
to sign new members which helps support Mooseheart and Moosehaven, but
also grows the Lodge and brings in new ideas and creativity. If you have an
idea for an event or for the good of the Lodge, bring them to any Board
member, we would love to hear about them.
With the Covid pandemic the last 18 months, we saw our share of cases but
fortunately most were on the milder side with few hospitalizations. Our staff
did a great job with reinforcing mask rules and social distancing. Our Lodge
continued to operate, and we were blessed to maintain a healthy budget
despite decreased attendance and hours. We seem to finally be getting back
to some sense of normalcy now that the number of cases and hospitalizations
are down. More and more people have received the vaccine providing extra
immunity. Restrictions imposed by the Governor have slowly been lifted.
May and June are big months for birthdays and graduations. Congratulations
to all of you who had a son or daughter graduate from high school or college
this year.
Let’s have a great Summer.

Dear Coworkers –
As we begin our new venture as “Moose”, I am hopeful that the WOTM will
have a full Board by the end of June. We had a difficult but fulfilling year
last year and we are hopeful that things will continue to go forward in a
positive direction – attitudes included.
Our Chapter has hopes to change things up and bring fun back to the
meetings. Please make sure that you stay tuned for all the news to come.
There are some exciting things happening and some NEW events.
We will be bringing some dances back but also have some MINGO’s
(members only bingo), Singo will make a return as well as some secret
events to be revealed at a later date. Please come to the meetings so you
can hear what is going on as well as what you can do to help make our
year an even better one!
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to
myself or any collegiate to answer them for you.
Have a great June and let’s get ready for some FUN TIMES!!!

At the time of this writing there were still some
appointed positions to fill. Our first meeting was held
on May 10th with good attendance. Our next meeting
will be held on June 14th and MLC breakfast on June
20th., which just happens to also be Father’s Day. So,
to show our gratitude breakfast will be free for all Dads
that day. Breakfast is served from 9:00 to 11:30 am.
Bring the family out and enjoy a great breakfast at a
great price.
We are still in the planning stages of the exterior
painting of the Lodge but hopefully, when you are
reading this, we will have completed the project. The
silicone sealing of the Lodge roof should have also
been completed. We will be turning our attention to
making upgrades like new carpets, fresh paint, new
chairs and bar rails in the Social Quarters and Ball
Room.
Come join the Moose legion Committee, get involved
and enjoy the fun we share.
Looking forward to another great year for the Moose

MEMBERSHIP
Danny Stockdreher
May 1st we started our new calendar year with a new Board
of Officers, new Committee Chairs and our most significant
change of all, the beginning of One Moose. Think about it,
we just doubled our membership, women are attending the
meetings and voting. Moreover, for the first time, we have
a combination of Women and Men Committee
Chairpersons. Get involved and be a part of the change.
As of May 10, all the Committee Chairs have been
appointed except for Membership and Retention. I feel it
would be best for the Lodge if this Committee would have
co-chairs, one Man and one Women. Who is going to do
it?
I am happy to report that in March and April we signed a
total of 27 new members into the Lodge surpassing our
Quota and making us eligible for the Premier Lodge award.
A big shout out to the Women of the Moose who also due
to an intensive drive the last week of April also met their
quota.
From May 1 to October 31st we will be continuing our
“New Members Signing New Members Campaign” Any
person joining the Lodge during that timeframe and
sponsoring one or more new members into the lodge
during that timeframe will have their name entered into a
raffle for a $250.00 Amazon Gift Card. Congratulations to
Richard Hicks who was the winner of the previous
campaign.
We will be continuing the Rock Star drawings throughout
this new year. It is so easy, sponsor a new member into
the LOOM and your name gets entered in a raffle for this
prestigious title. A name is drawn at each LOOM meeting.
If you are the lucky winner, your first drink on each visit is
free. (Up to $5.00) Now that is a great deal!
Congratulations to Dan Scrobe whose name was chosen at
our May 3rd meeting.
Our new May and June Short Term Membership Campaign
works like this; For each member sponsored you will
receive $10.00 in Moose Bucks, the more you sign the
more Moose Bucks.
The Lodge will have 6 Orientation Sessions over the course
of the year. I want to encourage all new members to
attend one of our Orientation Sessions. This is a highly
informative meeting where you will learn what we are
about and the benefits of being a Loyal Order of Moose
member. If you have never attended an Orientation
Session, I urge you to do so. The Lodge will be setting our
calendar of events sometime in Mid-May. We are off to a great start. We had 11 new members
approved at our first One Moose meeting. (See on Lodge
page.) Welcome to all of you and a great big thank you to
their sponsors.
Please make it your mission to meet and greet these new
members to our Lodge and make sure they know about all
the good things we do for Moosehaven, Mooseheart and
so many other organizations in our community.
See you at the Lodge, Danny
Committees & Clubs – Cont.
BINGO NEWS – Welcome to a new year of Bingo at Manchester
Moose Family Center. I am excited to take over as
Bingo Chairperson for this year. I have some BIG
shoes to fill with all that Mike Stone did for our
lodge and I hope to be able to fill them as much as
I can. Luckily, I have Bruce Copal to help me out
as much as he can, which I greatly appreciate.
There are a few changes that I would like to make
but I will not do that without the consent and
support of the board and the workers that
volunteer their time. Hopefully, the changes that
are coming will make it easier for all involved.
We are always looking for more volunteers to work
on Thursday nights – pull tab sellers, table sales,
call backs, cage workers and food runners (soon
to be discussed). Please do not hesitate to reach
out to me at any time with any questions and
comments that you have. I am always willing to
listen to what someone has to say, and any
suggestions will gladly be accepted.
Pull Tab Parties will continue every Sunday at 1
pm. If there is a schedule conflict, please reach
out to me and if I need to change it for any reason,
I will make the announcement as soon as I find
out.
Again, I want to thank Mike Stone for all that he
did for our Bingo for as many years as he did. He
will definitely be missed. I would also like to thank
Charles Carter for the 2 years of straight
Sunday/Thursday work that he put into the Bingo
as well. I am sure that he is looking for some fun
time off, which I hope he takes full advantage of.
Thank you,
Lisa Payne

MISCELLANEOUS FUN STUFF! In October 2020 Elwood Hanchey and Mark Marshall
prepared and sold 300 quarts of Chicken and Dumplings
for $8 a quart as a joint Ways and Means effort of
Manchester and Chesterfield Lodges. As it happens, this
recipe is a closely held SECRET handed down from Mark’s
grandmother and HE WON’T TELL US!
We worked and worked, and I think we have aced it! Try
the recipe below and see what you think!
“Mock Mark & Elwood’s” Chicken and Dumplings
1 cup frozen peas and carrots
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup chopped cooked chicken
1 can 10 1/2 oz condensed cream of
chicken soup
1 cup Original Bisquick mix
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp. paprika, salt & pepper to taste
1. In three-quart saucepan, place 1 1/2 cups milk, the
peas and carrots, chicken and soup. Heat to boiling over
high heat, stirring frequently. Reduce to a simmer.
2. In a medium bowl, mix Bisquick mix and 1/3 cup milk
until soft dough forms. Gently drop dough by 8 spoonfuls
into chicken mixture. Do not submerge dumplings in liquid.
3. Simmer over low heat 10 minutes. Cover, cook 8 to 10
minutes longer or until dumplings are cooked through.
