BLOCK SIZE:I am uncertain as of yet how I am going to “set” these blocks. Cut the background 18”x 18” for now…if yours is 17¾” wide for some reason do not worry…they will be trimmed down smaller…we have lots of room to go down as far as 14½”…I am thinking I would like more space around the blocks but again will be making this decision at a later date. Keep the extra fabric as we may use this too!

FABRICS & WOOLS NEEDED: VALDANI THREADS:FQ black print/black muslin11” x 14” Brown Texture wool - basket #8-P126” x 7½” Ecru wool - flowers #8-54½” x 4½” Natural Houndstooth wool - flower centers #8-P41½” x 6” 6 different Green Texture wools - leaves #12-893 & 0519 #8-05751½” x 12” Sweet Pea wool - stems #12-P2

DIRECTIONS:Trim and tape your block layout sheets together at the dashed lines.

Trace the appropriate number of applique shapes onto fusible web using the reversed shape page.

For the stems, cut a 1½” x 12” piece of fusible web and iron to the 1½” x 12” Sweet Pea wool. Sub cut into 3/16” strips (this is bigger than the 1/8” but less than ¼”). Our “NEW” 3” x 16” Wool Cutting Stem Rulers have 3/16” lines on it specifically for cutting wool stems.

Using a light box or some sort of light source, lay paper pattern on top, and remove paper off the back of the fusible web if using SAS2 light. Start with the basket, add the stems and leaves and then flowers.

Iron with lots of steam using an up and down motion, quick presses - do not leave the iron on the wool for long periods of time.

STITCHING:Blanket stitch the following: Basket - #8-P12 Flowers - #8-5 - Fray Check the cream flowers before stitching. Leaves - #12-893 and 0519 and #8-O575

Cross-stitch over the stems, using #12-0519.

FLOWER STITCHES -Using #8-0196 stem stitch stamens from the top of the flowers. You can place as many as you want and place them anywhere you wish, you do not have to follow ours exact. At the end of each of the stamens add a bullion knot stitch using #8-5.

Press block upside down on wool pressing mat or thick towel using lots of steam.
