The NSS units of Best Arts & Science College, Sirkali, Nagapattinam dt organised a
Tree plantation programme at the college campus. Mr. R. Selvanayagam, Syndicate
Member, Bharathidasan University inaugurated the programme. About 75 Saplings were
planted, in which 100 NSS volunteers participated.
2. Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti, Trichy dt
The NSS units of Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti, Trichy dt organised a
Tree Plantation programme. Dr. T. Jayaprakasam, Principal of the college inaugurated the
programme by planting the first sapling. Around 50 Volunteers participated in the
programme and planted 100 saplings on the day.

National IntegrationThe Trichy City Police organised a Seminar on “National Integration” at Bishop
Heber College, Trichy on 25.11.2014. Mr Srinivasan Sundarrajan, Director, NIT, Trichy, Dr. K. Meena, Former Vice chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Mr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Commissioner of Police, Trichy City and Mr. N. Satheesh , District Forest Officer were the resource persons. Around 150 volunteers from Shrimati Indira Gandhi College and other colleges of Trichy city participated in it. The Seminar was organised with the aim of fostering a spirit of communal harmony.

The NSS units of Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti organised a cancer
awareness programme on 26.11.2014 for the college students. Dr. F. Safedha Mary from
Harshamitra Super Speciality Cancer Centre, Trichy was the resource person for the
programme.
Awareness Programme on ‘End Violence against Women’The Rotary Club of Tiruchirappalli Shakthi and Tiruchirappalli District Social Welfare
Office jointly organised an awareness Programme and Human Chain on “End Violence
against Women” on 29.11.2014 at Sri Renga Matriculation School, Srirangam. Mrs. Jeya
District Mayor, Ms. Usha, District Social Welfare Officer, Child Welfare Committee
Members and 200 NSS Programme Officers participated in the programme.
World AIDS DayWorld AIDS Day awareness rally was conducted by the Confederation of Indian
Industry, SRF Foundation and Young Indian club 1.12.2014 at Trichy. Around 50 NSS
volunteers and 3 programme officers of Shrimati Indira Gandhi College, Trichy participated
in the rally. The rally started at Uzhavar Santhai and ended at Anna Statue. A street play
followed the rally.

Purchase Committee MeetingThe Purchase Committee for the purchase of Electrical Sanitary Napkin Incinerators
(ESNIs) for the II Phase (201415) of the BDU NSS WISH BHEL CSR Project was
convened on 1.12.2014 at 4.00 pm in CCCD hall. Members present were:

The committee scrutinised all the four Tenders received from various companies
meticulously and selected the company, which has quoted the lowest price. Based on the
cost, the committee decided to enhance the number of Incinerators from 50 to 60 during
the II Phase after getting the approval of the BHEL, Trichy. The purchase order has been
placed to Neptune Automation, Erode for the supply of 60 ESNIs to the identified
institutions.

Tamil Nadu State NSS Awards CeremonyThe Tamil Nadu State NSS Awards Ceremony was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor
Stadium, Chennai on 03.12.2014 under the presidentship of honourable Minister of Youth
Welfare & Sports Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, Dr. Sundararaj. About 18
NSS Volunteers from Jamal Mohamed College, Trichy under the guidance of their NSS
Programme Officer organised the ceremony. In which, the following persons under the

Menstrual Hygiene and Adolescent HealthThe NSS Units of Shrimati Indira Gandhi College, Trichy organised a series of
awareness programmes on “Menstrual Hygiene and Adolescent Health” for various school
students at Trichy city. About 25 NSS volunteers under the guidance of their NSS
Programme Officer imparted the values of cleanliness and nutritious food during the
adolescence period for S.M. Higher Secondary School, Woraiyur, Trichy on 08.12.2014, for
Govt. Syed Murduza Higher Secondary School, Marakadai, Trichy on 09.12.2014 and for
R.C. Middle School, Butterworth Road, Trichy on 10.12.2014.
