Pakistan Reading Project
Institute of Rural Management (IRM), in
partnership with the International Rescue
Committee (IRC), Creative Associates
International and World Learning, is
implementing a five year long USAID project
titled “Pakistan Reading Project (PRP)”. IRM
is the Lead Technical Partner (Materials
Development) at National level and Lead
Implementation Partner in Balochistan.
Progress for the month of April 2015
includes three days orientation of 38 academic
supervisors (26 Male, 12 Female) at districts:
Quetta, Killa Saifullah and Loralai, and one day
orientation of TIG Facilitators in Quetta distcit.
Similarly, three days face to face “Head
Teachers” training and five days face to face
Teacher Training were also conducted in
Quetta, Pishin, Loralai, Killa Saifullah and
Ziarat respectively.
Khushhali Bank
Khushhali Bank contacted IRM to develop a
sustainable recruitment strategy and to execute
it on an ongoing basis. In 2015, Khushhali Bank
planned to hire and train 474 employees. These
employees are divided in six categories which
are BDO - Liability Sales, LO (IL), LO (GL),
Customer Services Officer, Cash Officer
(Cash). As of April IRM successfully trained
326 participants.
Guddi Baji Project
The duration of GudiBaji Project is from May
2014 to December 2017. In this project 5,700
women of Attock, Bhakkar, Bhalwal, Jand,
Jhelum, Khushab, MandiBahauddin, Sohawa,
Mianwali, Talagang and Sargodha will be
trained in Beautician training.
As of April 2015, a total of 1,217 women have
successfully been trained.
Livelihood Employment and Enterprise
Development – LEED
Institute of Rural Management (IRM) has
signed a project with PPAF, namely Livelihood
Employment and Enterprise Development –
LEED. The project aims to provide training to
2,605 target beneficiaries of D.G Khan and
Rajanpur, of them 2,127 are successfully
trained as of April 2015.
Punjab Skills Development Fund– Skills for
Job
Punjab Skills Development Fund funded
“Skills for Job” project to IRM. Duration of the
project is from December 2014 to November
2015. A total of 180 beneficiaries of Sargodha,
Gujranwala, Lahore, Chiniot and Faisalabad
will be provided different vocational training.
Progress for the month of April includes training
of 11 participants in Building Painter.
Southern Punjab Poverty Alleviation Project
IRM signed Southern Punjab Poverty
Alleviation Project with Government of
Pakistan. Activities for the month of April
include the training of 205 participants;
rounding to a total of 1,719.
Other activities include the screening of 3,699
and submission of work plan to PMU, meeting
with PMU regarding project targets and strategy
for Stipend distribution, and submission of

stories report and VTO trade report.
Training on Life Skills and Financial
Literacy (PPAF-SAP PK)
IRM signed one month project with PPAF. The
project aims to provide one day Financial
Literacy and two days Life Skills training to
1,615 target beneficiaries of districts Turbat and
Gawadar.
IRM successfully trained 100% target
beneficiaries during the month of April 2015.
Credit Appraisal & Recovery Technique –
PPAF
Community Training section successfully
provided Credit Appraisal & Recovery
Technique to 69 participants during the month
of April 2015. Duration of each training event
was four days.
FATA-DA Entrepreneurship Training
The project's achievements for the month of
April 2015 include training of 147
participants rounding to the total achievement
of 1,137. This project aims to provide an
opportunity to the trained FATA youth, who
have gained experience through Field
Internship Programme, in setting up their own
business or getting employment.
Integrated Community Development
Initiative (ICDI)
IRM singed another two months “Integrated
Community Development Initiative” project
with Islamic Relief Pakistan. Duration of this
project is from March 2015 to April 2015. The
project aims to provide vocational skills
training to the youth of flood affected areas of
District Charsadda and Nowshera.
Activities for the month of April 2015 includes
the training of 142 beneficiaries in different
vocational trades.
Livelihood and Small Scale Community
Infrastructure Project (LACIP)
IRM signed two months “Livelihood and Small
Scale Community Infrastructure” Project with
NRSP. The project aims to provide different
vocational training to the youth of flood affected
areas of district Nowshehra. Activities for the
month of April include the training of 52 women
in Hand Embroidery trade.
IRM Sindh
IRM Sindh, in collaboration with Rural
Development Foundation, provided 60 and 45
days different vocational training to 170 and 34
participants respectively. Similarly IRM Sindh
in collaboration with NRSP, SAFWCO, SCOP,
SRSP and IET provided 7 days Training of
Trainers on Adult Literacy and Training of
Trainers on Alternate Energy to 30 and 19
participants respectively.
VTEC Rawalpindi
During the month of April 2015, IRM VTEC
Rawalpindi enrolled overall 246 participants in
different vocational trades under SPPAP
Vocational Training Organization Programme
and Save the Children, of them 114 are
graduated in April, while the rest will graduate in
May 2015.
