Greetings to all in the precious name of our Lord Jesus!

‘The Great Lent’, one of the liturgical traditions of the Church has set with its cardinal theme of the year as “Becoming to Bear -

BboSmw Bew_ambv.” We must emulate Christ by bearing the pain of our fellow beings and enduring the groans of the nature.

Repentance is the key and mark of a true Christian life. Jesus’ first word when He began to preach was: “Repent!” (Matt. 4:17). The Great Lent can be considered as a school of repentance through which every Christian must go annually in order to deepen his faith, to re-evaluate him, and to reform his life.

When a man sets on a journey, he ought to be aware of his destination. Similarly Lent is a spiritual journey with Easter “the Feast of Feasts” as its destination. We must begin, therefore, by trying to understand this connection between Lent and Easter, for it reveals something very essential, very crucial about our Christian faith and life.

The Maramon Convention commences on Feb. 14th

while the Marubhhomiyile Maramon convention on Feb. 29th. The Church invites everyone to join the spiritual pilgrimage of God’s Word.

Our children in 10th and 12th classes are at the threshold of their exams. The hard work, enthusiasm, perseverance are the stepping stones to scale new heights in their academics. The St. Thomas family upholds them to the Giver of Knowledge and joins hands in wishing all success and bright future to our children.

I appreciate all my parish members for the wholehearted support extended towards the harvest fest; it was a blessed Kudumba Sangamon. A sizable participation we enjoyed from our sister-parishes despite adverse weather is worth commending. A big thank to all!

Do uphold earnestly those who are being victimized to inexplicable tribulations worldwide against their faith in the Lord Jesus – Many as martyrs; many as refugees; many as wanderers; many in no man’s land. Serious religious concerns are shared in many part of the world, including India. Our sincere prayers and actions are the imminent need of the hour for their deliverance.

May this lent turn out to be a great new experience in each heart by being a part of the needy and the anguished. “Becoming to Bear” comprises immense challenges; for example many children who proclaimed their faith in Jesus before the religious fanatics were beheaded; around 30 crores people in India go to sleep with empty stomach. One may ask, ‘How “Becoming to Bear” is possible?’ Answer is ‘Be a Christ-Bear the pain of others.’

I conclude my words with a hymn that throws light on the need of our Lord for a sanctified and a peaceful life. May the Lenten season lead you to become ‘a christ.’

Open to me the gates of repentance, O Giver of Life;For my spirit rises early to pray towards Thy holy temple.Bearing the temple of my body all defiled;But in Thy compassion, purify me by the loving kindness of Thy mercy.When I think of the many evil things I have done, wretch that I am,I tremble at the fearful Day of Judgment.But trusting in Thy loving kindness, like David I cry to Thee:

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy.
