    The Centre has released advance grant-in-aid of Rs 51.30 crore to Arunachal Pradesh for rescue and relief

    operations on account of flash floods.

    Due to heavy rains and floods in North East, department of expenditure in the Ministry of Finance has released

    Rs 51.30 crore as grant-in-aid to Arunachal Pradesh on the basis of recommendation of the 14th Finance

    Commission for relief necessitated by natural calamities to the state.

    Delhi Metro is the first Metro system to become completely green in the world. The Delhi Metro Rail

    Corporation (DMRC) had earlier received the green certificates for its Phase-3 stations, depots, and sub-

    stations. Delhi Metro has also secured the platinum rating for adherence to green building norms for its 10

    residential colonies from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). DMRC has generated new solar power

    facilities that produce 2.6 MW across the Metro network. DMRC also announced it is now generating 20

    megawatt (MW) of solar power. The DMRC also mentioned SwachhChetna An Eco Club, a joint initiative

    of the DMRC and Shri Ram School, Gurugram. It has been initiated to encourage school children to

    participate in the more environment friendly projects and activities. Energy consumption has increased by

    700% in the last four decades in the country and this will increase further three times by 2030. It is necessary to

    focus on Metro systems and talk of green Metro.

    Ahmedabad city has been declared as a World Heritage City at the 41st session of UNESCO's world heritage

    committee being held at Krakow in Poland. Nomination of Ahmedabad was supported by close to 20 countries,

    including Turkey, Lebanon, Tunisia, Portugal, Peru and Kazakhstan. The walled city has 26 ASI-protected

    structures, hundreds of 'polls' that capture the essence of community living and numerous sites associated with

    Mahatma Gandhi who lived here from 1915 to 1930. Now, Ahmedabad will join the world heritage cities like

    Paris, Cairo and Edinburgh. Out of total 287 world heritage cities across the globe, there were only two cities in
