Announcement #8: Roster Provider Screening Web Enhancement
Note this was an email blast sent to providers on June 22, 2018.
This is a follow-up to the provider communication, “Roster Provider Reminder” dated August 15, 2017. Magellan of Virginia, on behalf of the Department of Medical Assistance Services, must screen providers, including licensed roster staff, in order to comply with Federal law. These requirements can be found in 42 CFR 455 subpart E: Provider Screening and Enrollment.
Organizational providers are required to report licensed (i.e. LMHP) roster staff at all contracted service locations, at which point Magellan will complete the screening for each individual practitioner. Magellan recently completed an enhancement to the provider website, which displays the Medicaid screening verification date for each roster staff.
To verify the screening date, providers must login to www.magellanhealth.com/provider. From there, select the “display/edit practice information link under the “My Practice” heading on the left hand side. Select the “Provider TIN/MIS” associated with the location that you wish to view and click “Go”. From there, click the “roster maintenance” option. The column labeled “Medicaid Verification/Expiration Dates” shows the date Magellan completed the screening and the screening expiration date.

Announcement #8: Roster Provider Screening Web Enhancement Con’t
Note this was an email blast sent to providers on June 22, 2018.
Only licensed roster staff with a completed screening will have a date displayed. Magellan will send formal written notification for any licensed roster staff that do not pass screening.
If you have licensed roster staff actively seeing members and they are not listed on the provider website, please add them using the roster maintenance option in order for Magellan to complete the screening. Magellan requires that providers update their staff roster no less than quarterly.
As a reminder, this impacts billing and claims submissions. Medicaid cannot reimburse providers who do not have an approved screening and claims submitted with a provider that does not have an approved screening will be denied. Magellan will send another communication 30 days prior to the implementation with the effective date of the billing changes.
If you have any questions regarding the information in this communication, please contact the Magellan of Virginia Network Department at 1-800-424-4536. Thank you.
