Dr. Meeran C. Borwankar, IPS, Director General, BPR&D, New Delhi Inaugurated New Hostel Building of Central Detective Training School (CDTS) at Hyderabad on September 21, 2017 in the presence of CDTS and CPWD Officers. The Hostel Building has been constructed by Southern Zone-II, CPWD, Hyderabad.

Dr. Meeran Chadha Borwankar, IPS, Director General (Bureau of Police Research & Development), Ministry of Home Affairs, laid foundation stone for construction of Central Detective Training School at Mohali, Punjab on September 4, 2017 in presence of BPR&D, and CPWD Officers. The work shall be executed by the Northern Zone-I, CPWD, Chandigarh.

Director General, CPWD visited IIT Jodhpur on October 5, 2017 and reviewed the progress of ongoing works. Director, IIT Jodhpur and DG, CPWD laid foundation stone for the new Building. On the occasion IIT Jodhpur and CPWD Officers were present.

Shri O.P. Singh, IPS, Director General, CISF laid foundation stone for construction of 50 Rooms SOs Hostel at Fire Service Training Institute, Hyderabad on September 4, 2017 in presence of CISF and CPWD Officers. The work shall be executed by the Southern Zone-II, CPWD, Hyderabad.

Dr. Shobhana Kumar Pattanayak, IAS, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare laid foundation stone for construction of International Guest House at Rajendranagar, Hyderabad on September 25, 2017. The work shall be executed by Southern Zone-II, CPWD, Hyderabad.

Work Portfolio (FY 2017-18)

Total about 2000 construction works

amounting to 29200 crores and 1500

maintenance works amounting to 620 crores

are in progress.

The works are being awarded for newly

sanctioned construction works amounting to

8700 crores and maintenance works

amounting to 670 crores.

About 3350 construction works & 1660

maintenance works amounting to 14400

crores & 470 crores respectively completed

during 2017-18 upto 30.9.2017.

PEs for more than 3500 works amounting to

26200 crores submitted to the clients, for

which sanctions are awaited.

In pursuance to the directions of the Ministry,

to adopt innovative approaches, improve work

efficiency, transparency and proficiency in the

functioning, the Rules for Enlistment of

Contractors in CPWD, 2017 (hereinafter,

ER-17) have been notified w.e.f. 01.09.2017

vide DG/SE/CM/ENLIST.RULES/29 dated

08.08.2017. The circular and rules dated

08.08.2017 are available online on CPWD

website. The online application system at

http://cpwdcontractor.nic.in/ has also been ac-

cordingly amended w.e.f. 01.09.2017.

CPWD participates in ‘Swachhata hi Sewa’ campaign from 15.9.2017 to 02.10.2017

Massive cleanliness drive were taken up by different units of CPWD across the country during ‘Swachhata hi Sewa’ campaign from 15.9.2017 to 02.10.2017. A special event on the occasion was held on 01.10.2017 in India Gate, New Delhi which was graced by the Hon’ble Minister and Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The event included Shramdan by CPWD Officers and Staff, painting competition among school children, a skit by the Artists of National School of Drama and prize distribution etc. The event was a grand success.

A riot of colours at South and North Blocks Now, you will have one more reason to visit India Gate and Rajpath in the evening. Come Wednesday , two iconic buildings -South Block and North Block -will get dynamic facade lighting every evening till midnight with colours changing every few seconds. You can get the best view of the prime lighting between 8pm and 9pm.

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has nailed over 50,000 LED bulbs on the walls of the two buildings as part of its facade lighting programme. Since the entire system is automated and computer controlled, there will be customised lighting on special days such as Independence Day , Republic Day and other days of national importance.

At present, these buildings and others along Rajpath get static lighting on special days.

A statement from the housing and urban affairs ministry said there will be 16 million colour combinations, displaying a wide range of patterns and themes during night time.

The ministry said the new light-ing system will also help re-duce the power bill. “The elec-trical load will be 25% during 7-7.30 pm and 10 pm to 5 am while the load will be 50% dur-ing the remainder of the night,“ it said.

The ministry said the new lights and fixtures were more dura-ble, cost effective, energy efficient and environment friendly . “The annual saving on account of new lighting of 21,450 sq metres of facade area in respect of replacement, maintenance and operation cost will be Rs 86.4 lakh. The life of the new LED light fittings is over one lakh burning hours, coming to about 25 years as against only 10,000 burning hours for the exist-ing lights.

“Energy consumption by the present limited conventional lighting using LED, metal halide and sodium vapour light fittings is Rs 17 lakh per year, double that of the extended year round new dynamic lighting with an energy consumption of only Rs 8.4 lakh per year,“ the ministry said.
