Tuesday 16 th September The club run on this Tuesday will be at the Crooked Road Beattock followed by a meal in Moffat. The plan is to meet in Beattock at 6:30pm prompt (car share meet at Nunholm to leave at 6:00pm). This popular annual run/meal is being organised by Maggie Gray, so please contact her for details and to give her an idea of numbers. (07557790860).

Sunday 21 st September – Dumfries Half marathon This year’s DRC Half Marathon will be the 33rd running of the event. At the time of sending, we have 200 runners and expect a late surge of entries in the final 2 week run in. If you are planning to run, please enter ASAP at entry central, or print a manual entry form and return to Adam Dickie. With a new route, runners will be treated to some of the fine scenery around Dumfries, heading out the Bankend Road with a great view down to the Lake District, then the climb over the hill towards the Dog Kennels is rewarded with a great view across the Nith Estuary to Criffel. The route starts at the Crichton and finishes in the Dumfries and Galloway College car park. The college facilities have been made available for the duration giving us a great base with changing/showers for runners, somewhere for us to shelter if the weather isn’t great and just as important somewhere for the spectators/friends/families to base themselves whilst the race is underway. The Coffee shop will be open for everyone to purchase refreshments and for runners to re-fuel when finished. If you aren’t running and have spare time to help on the day, please contact myself or Mark Johnston and we will add you to the list. We have a list of names and jobs and at the minute there are more jobs than people so don’t be shy. We will remind you all in the run up to the race.

Grand Prix UpdateWith no GP races in August, it’s as you were with the tables. Lisa and Steven have secured the titles for 2014; however it’s all to play for in the other podium positions and also the age group categories. Looking forward, there are no GP races now until October 12th when we will be travelling down to try the Penrith 10k which sounds a great event with a mixed terrain 10k and a mixed terrain kids run as-well.There will need to be a change to the schedule as it appears the Drumlanrig 10k and Half Marathon have been cancelled this year. A further announcement will follow the next committee meeting. Notable Performances/Highlights from this month: In another busy month the DRC flag has been flying high around the country and even further afield☺. It was great to see a healthy turnout at the August handicap with 20 runners enjoying the fine weather. Kirsteen and Ali made a longer than planned trip to the Island of Coll to take part in the 10k and Half Marathon respectively. Kirsteen finished as 3rd fastest lady whilst her girls completed the 1k run finishing as 2nd and 3rd

girls. Jo Z travelled a bit further afield representing Scotland in the World Mountain running championship in Colorado, another great achievement for Jo! Mo continued to run up and down the hills this time in Fife. Frank brought us the 4 th Blackwood trail race, several DRC runners took part, with Terry finishing 2nd and Kev McQ 3rd. Again on the home front, several DRC runners took part in the brand new Doonhamer 10k. On a hot day (it was hard enough marshalling), several DRC members done themselves proud around the parks and along the paths by river Nith. First back for the club was Kev McQ (3rd o/a, 2nd V40), followed closely by Kev McC (4th o/a 1st

V50), with Niall (6th 1st V35) not too far behind making up the first team. There were age groups prizes for Ranjit, Simon, Sandy, Frank and Margaret as-well☺. In amongst that lot, Lisa went quietly about her business running a 5k track race in Kilmarnock in a Club record equalling time of 18:11. This was followed up with a 5k road race win in a time of 17:51. Lisa was accompanied by club-mate and training partner Ian L who ran a very respectable run in 17:09 for 8th overall.

Last but Not LeastDid I mention the Half Marathon?....Please email Mark or I if you can help.

Thanks

Happy Running☺
