I hope that this finds you all warm and well. I must apologize for missing the meeting last month. I understand that Mike Varley put on a great presentation on sump pump controls. I'd like to thank Mike for providing the presentation to our chapter. Registration is now open for the 2015 ASPE Technical Symposium that will be held in St. Louis on October 1-4, 2015. There will be a few ASPE events happening at this symposium. So check it out and learn more by going to aspe.org/2015-ts-home-page. ASPE and the Water Quality Association (WQA) are preparing to expand the scope of WQA/ASPE/ANSI S-803 (2014): Sustainable Drinking Water Treatment Systems to include water softeners and ion-exchange resin media and are seeking volunteers to assist with draft-ing the environmental criteria for these product types. Individuals interested in joining this working group can contact WQA’s Sustainability Certification Supervisor, Stuart Mann, at [email protected] or 630-929-2546. Our new Pittsburgh Chapter website is up and running. I hope this makes things easier for us all to communicate and get the word out on what is happening within our chapter. I ask that each and every one of you to take a look at it and please provide feedback on what you think. For those who would like to advertise on the page, this is another great opportunity. Not only are you reaching all of the chapter members, but you now can connect with the eyes of anyone in the world that clicks on the www.pittsburghaspe.org website!! If you are interested in doing this, please contact Kevin Morrissey for more details. The board has decided on an alternate location for some of our meetings next season. We will most likely be holding a few meetings at the Roman Bistro in Forest Hills. This location is convenient to the Parkway East, has free ample parking and an excellent atmosphere along with great food and drinks. Check out their web page at www.romanbistro.com for addition-al information on this location. We still are looking into a location North of the city to hold a few meetings. We have a place in mind, so stay tuned for an announcement on that one. Lastly, as mentioned before, our ASPE Pittsburgh Annual Golf Outing is being held on Fri-day, June 19, 2015. I want to open this outing up to those outside of the plumbing industry. If you have a friend or colleague that would like to enter a group to golf that day, please for-ward the registration form to them. The more the merrier!! Remember, lunch, golf, dinner and prizes for everyone that day!! Also don’t wait until the last minute. If you are interested in sponsoring a hole, donating prizes or want any other additional information, let Joe Starr, Greg Torchia or myself know. Hope to see you all at the meeting !!

Happy Spring 2015, and Happy Easter to all our ASPE members, family and friends. Soon we will be getting our golf clubs, bicycles, kayaks and old cars out of storage and getting them ready for the season. In the meantime – cheer on the Pens to get into the playoffs! Pirates home opener is just weeks away too – Beat em’ Bucs! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- APRIL 13th MEETING TOPIC Our topic for the April meeting is on the Latest Changes in NFPA99 Medical Gas Code. A majority of the presentation will cover the 2012 edition (as PA would most likely adopt this edition next), and part of the presentation will cover the brand new 2015 code changes. The topic will be presented by Dan Sullivan. Dan has been in the Medical Gas Distribution Equipment industry for over 20 years. Dan Started as a Sales Engineer with Sherman Engineering, and covered Northeast and Western PA. In 2001, he started to work for BeaconMedaes and was responsible for di-rect sales and sales management of the New England Territory. In addition to the New England territo-ry, he is now also the National Sales Trainer for BeaconMedaes and he also helps to manage the West-ern PA territory with Sherman Engineering. He has been on various product design teams for Beacon-Medaes helping to bring state of the art medical gas systems to market that best fit the needs of hospi-tals and laboratories. Dan has a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Lehigh University and is ASSE 6020 and 6040 certified. So make plans to attend this meeting to see this important topic presentation and have a chance to speak with one of our national office holders. The table top will be presented Phil Hober with Sherman Engineering. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please remember our meeting on April 13th is at our new meeting location. Our new location is Sciulli’s Bar and Grille in McKees Rocks, at the North end of Island Avenue at 1562 Island Ave, just before the bridge to Neville Island. Here is a link to their website: http://sciullisbarandgrille.com/ The meeting starts at 6 PM with people starting to gather at 5:30. RSVP to Kevin Morrissey at [email protected] to reserve a spot at the Jan 12 meeting!! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!

EARNING CEU’S As a reminder to all of you CPD's out there, remember that you can still go to the ASPE website and go to the Educational Programs & Tools tab to get to the "Read, Learn, Earn" portion of the site and obtain CEU's toward your next renewal deadline.( http://aspe.org/readlearnearn) At the present time, these are still free to current ASPE members. So why not utilize the tool. If you have any problems logging in or downloading the materials, please let me know and I can assist you.
