    Description: On property of the Howard Hughes Medical Insititute, which would not permit

    access to site. Hayes Manor was part of a 700-acre estate built c. 1767. It was owned by the

    Dunlop-Laird family from 1792 on.

    Comments: According to Farquhar, the remains of Dunlop family members were moved to thislocation c. 1891 to keep them with the house, which was still owned by descendants. An obelisk

    was inscribed, In Memory of James & Elizabeth Dunlop & their descendents.

    Comments: In 1975, 2 Boyer stones were found at edge of cornfield along fence, along withother broken stones.

    About 25 fieldstones, some with footstones. Mostly seneca sandstone.

    Comments: John Clipper worked as a stonecutter at Seneca Quarry Mill. He built a houseadjacent to canal for himself, his wife, and 10 children. Transcriptions and article in file.
