Francesco Pera, Curiosità Livornesi inedite o rare, 1888:Giacomo Partridge fu persona di gran probità, dedito alle lettere, sensibile all'amicizia, liberale, beneficosenz'ostentazione, affettuoso marito di virtuosissima moglie, con la quale, ritiratosi dal commercio, avevatrasferito già da molti anni il proprio domicilio nella sua deliziosa villa a mezza via di Montenero (Quellache si trova a destra, prima della salita chiamata della Madonnina, presentemente Villa Freccia).

Massimo Freccia, The Sounds of Memory, 1990:…There was another inconvenience to the villa in Ardenza. Mr. Partridge, anEnglishman who owned it before the Freccias bought it, had the unfortunateidea of shooting in one of the rooms and had forgotten to take his ghost withhim. It was so attached to the place that it scorned the many efforts made toexorcise it by the local priests and the bishop of Livorno.
