The life of the disciple demands that we make a choice – we must choose what

we authentically believe about Jesus and if we are committed to following Him

– no matter that cost. Truth is, you’ll have to deny yourself and take up the

cross. As Dietrich Bonheoffer once wrote, “When Christ calls a man, he bids

him come a die.” Peter could see Jesus was the Messiah, now Peter had to de-

cide if we he wanted to follow the Messiah God sent and not the Messiah Peter

was hoping for. You have the same choice – will you take up the cross of

Christ, no matter where it leads you, in order to experience the amazing life that

God has planned for you?

As you prepare for worship,

consider these words of Jesus to a man whose daughter has just passed away,

While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the syna-

gogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher.”

Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus,

“Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

Have you come this morning with fear? Are you in need? You’ve come to

the right place. Your faith will bring healing as you pursue Jesus.
