Montcalm Wine Importers Ltd. was founded in 2010 with a vision of importing into the U.S. the wines of Le Tenute di Genagricola, its parent company, as well as other high quality independent wineries from Italy and from around the world. (With agricultural experience dating from 1831, Le Tenute di Genagricola currently owns 28 farms in Italy and Romania, with more than 1,000 hectares of vineyards and wines sold in more than 30 countries.) Montcalm has carefully assembled both a premium range of wines as well as an experienced sales staff, led by Executive VP & Managing Director Michele Ricci. Now with 30+ producers and dis- tribution in 25 states, Montcalm is planning their first-ever portfolio tast- ing—in the breathtaking space at 7 World Trade Center—with producers in attendance. Among the highlights: Wines from Tenuta Sant’Anna, the home base and flagship property of Le Tenute di Genagricola, including a line of Proseccos and the newly redesigned Silterra varietals. From Abruzzo, Illuminati, whose “Riparosso” was recently named the #1 value Montepulciano in Italy by Gambero Rosso. Eight distinct Tuscan producers (five of which are organic), including Guicciardini Strozzi, whose family ownership has played a role in Italian history for 1,000+ years (they were rivals of the de Medicis), Fattoria Lavacchio, whose “Puro” is the first-ever Chianti with no added sulfites. Five esteemed Piemon- tese producers, with the req- uisite pedigreed bottlings of Barolo, Barbaresco and Gavi, but also Brachetto d’Acqui, Moscato d’Asti, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, as well as cultish Barbera d’Asti “Baby” (Cantine Sant’Agata). From red-hot Sicily, the estate wines of Spadafora, running from the colorful BTG-friendly Alhambra line to the more serious “Schietto” (for “truth”) varietals to the knockout red blend Don Petro Rosso. Brand new from Trentino, the remarkably refined varietal Italian spirits of the brother-sister team at Distilleria Marzadro (these will change the way you think about grappa). Nativ, founded by a winemaker who consults for some of the top estates in Campania, specializing in the classic local wines grown in the shadow of Mt Vesuvius. Not to mention, critically ac- claimed producers in Sardinia (Mesa), Puglia (Apollonio), Veneto (Villa Girardi), Alto Adige (Girlan), Friuli (Possiobello), Lazio (Solonio), Marche (Accadia, Le Caniette) and beyond. In short, Montcalm is a wine im- porter and distributor with a laser-sharp focus on Italy. Some are classic, some modern, but they all have great stories to tell and quality in the bottle to de- liver—and a dedicated team intent on making that happen in NY Metro as well as nationally. As Michele Ricci notes, it’s the “combination of people and product” that sets the firm apart. MONTCALM TO HOST 1 ST GRAND TASTING Michele Ricci

It’s one thing for a young company to bristle with energy, but that

energy becomes all the more valuable when being applied by an experienced team with a well-curated and potent portfolio.

Now with 30+ producers and dis-tribution in 25 states, Montcalm is planning their first-ever portfolio tast-ing—in the breathtaking space at 7 World Trade Center—with producers in attendance. Among the highlights:

❂ Wines from Tenuta Sant’Anna, the home base and flagship property of Le Tenute di Genagricola, including a line of Proseccos and the newly redesigned Silterra varietals.

❂ From Abruzzo, Illuminati, whose “Riparosso” was recently named the #1 value Montepulciano in Italy by Gambero Rosso.

❂ Eight distinct Tuscan producers (five of which are organic), including Guicciardini Strozzi, whose family ownership has played a role in Italian history for 1,000+ years (they were

rivals of the de Medicis), Fattoria Lavacchio, whose “Puro” is the first-ever Chianti with no added sulfites.

❂ Five esteemed Piemon-tese producers, with the req-uisite pedigreed bottlings of Barolo, Barbaresco and Gavi,

but also Brachetto d’Acqui, Moscato d’Asti, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, as well as cultish Barbera d’Asti “Baby” (Cantine Sant’Agata).

❂ From red-hot Sicily, the estate wines of Spadafora, running from the colorful BTG-friendly Alhambra line to the more serious “Schietto” (for “truth”) varietals to the knockout red blend Don Petro Rosso.

❂ Brand new from Trentino, the remarkably refined varietal Italian spirits of the brother-sister team at Distilleria Marzadro (these will change the way you think about grappa).

❂ Nativ, founded by a winemaker who consults for some of the top estates in Campania, specializing in the classic local wines grown in the shadow of Mt Vesuvius.

❂ Not to mention, critically ac-claimed producers in Sardinia (Mesa), Puglia (Apollonio), Veneto (Villa Girardi), Alto Adige (Girlan), Friuli (Possiobello), Lazio (Solonio), Marche (Accadia, Le Caniette) and beyond.

In short, Montcalm is a wine im-porter and distributor with a laser-sharp focus on Italy. Some are classic, some modern, but they all have great stories to tell and quality in the bottle to de-liver—and a dedicated team intent on making that happen in NY Metro as well as nationally. As Michele Ricci notes, it’s the “combination of people and product” that sets the firm apart. ■
