Monroe Focusing in LCAP Goals Dear Parents, We want to remind you that Monroe School will focus on the following goals this month: Goal 1: Our students need the knowledge, skills, and values to become productive citizens in the 21st cen-tury. Early Literacy Goals 1a: All students will be proficient readers by the end of third grade. 1b: Reclassified within 5 years of entering program. 1c: All students will demonstrate readiness for Alge-bra I before entering 9th grade.

Goal 2: Our students need equitable access to a high quality curricular and instructional program that is accessible from school and home.

Goal 3: Our students and staff need healthy, safe and secure environments in which to learn. This month’s parent meeting on November 29, 2016 will focus on LCAP goals and assessments we will use to meas-ure progress towards LCAP goals. We need your help and input and are asking you to let us know which programs we should continue to support or new programs we could implement to support our school meeting its LCAP goals. We are asking you to send a piece of paper with the title LCAP and the three LCAP goals written on it. Send us ideas or suggestions you have for each of the three areas. Write your child’s name on the paper so your child/ children will receive a Monroe Eagle pencil.

Estimados Padres, Queremos recordarle que la escuela Escuela Monroe, se enfocara este mes en las siguientes Metas: Meta 1: Nuestros estudiantes necesitan los conoci-mientos, habilidades y valores para convertirse en ciudadanos productivos en el siglo 21 . Los primeros objetivos de la alfabetización 1a: Todos los estudiantes serán buenos lectores al final del tercer grado. 1b : Alumnos serán reclasificados dentro de los 5 años que entran al programa 1c : Todos los estudiantes demostrarán la preparación para Álgebra I antes de entrar en el noveno grado. Meta 2: Nuestros estudiantes necesitan tener acceso equitativo a un currículo de alta calidad y programa de instrucción que sea accesible desde la escuela y el hogar. Meta 3: Nuestros estudiantes y el personal necesita un ambiente sano, y seguro en donde puedan aprender. En la reunión de padres el 29 de noviembre, hablaremos

sobre los objetivos de LCAP y evaluaciones que utilizare-

mos para medir el progreso hacia las metas de LCAP.

Necesitamos su ayuda y su opinión en los programas que

debemos seguir apoyando o nuevos programas que podría-

mos implementar y que ayudarán a nuestra escuela a llegar

a las metas de LCAP.

on picture day. Fliers with more information and prices will be sent home soon.

School Fundraisers:

School Box Tops: Help support your school by clipping and sav-ing Box Tops from products you purchase at

home. Send your box tops to school with your child.

Monroe Elementary will be having a Tupper-ware Fundraiser sale from November 16th to the 30th. This will help us sponsor field trips and other activities. More information will be sent home on the 16th. Please support our school, we will receive 40% of proceeds for this noble cause.

On Wednesdays, library will be open at

We want to encourage parents to visit and learn new literacy strategies with Mrs. Pereyra.

ATTENDANCE

We are very concerned about our student attendance to school. We

want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends

school every day.

The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in

school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. This is true for every grade – elementary,

middle, and high school students.

Every day and every minute counts. Missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress

through school.

As you know, as a school we have a class challenge called ―WE BEAT THE BELL‖

Every day the entire class is in their seat on time the class gets to color a letter. At the end of each month the class who has the most colored letters gets a prize. There are

only 13 letters and students attend school a minimum of 20 days per month, therefore as a class they should be

able to color all letters in the month.

Also, students who have perfect at-tendance (no tardiness or absences) for each trimester will be entered in a raffle for the opportunity to win a

gift card.

Students with good attendance performed better in math and reading. Children who had good attendance in Kin-dergarten through Grade 2 were more than twice as like-ly to score proficient on state math tests by the time they reached Grade 8 as their peers who missed more school.

Good attendance starts early. Research has shown that the attendance habits established Kindergarten through

Grade 2 have lasting effects on students throughout their education: children with high attendance in the early

grades continue to have good attendance; and students with low attendance in the early grades are more likely to

have low attendance—and lower academic perfor-mance—throughout their elementary and middle school

years.

I am asking for your support in helping your child get to school on time at 8:00 a.m. every day. Your child needs to be in school and engaged in learning to reach his or her

full potential.

2nd CHANCE BREAKFAST !!!

Monroe will begin a new breakfast program. If your child misses breakfast in the morning they will have a

chance to eat breakfast during their recess time.

Breakfast is indeed a very important meal. A good breakfast fuels you up and gets you ready for the day.

In general, kids and teens who eat breakfast have more energy, do better in school, and eat healthier

throughout the day.

ASISTENCIA

Estamos muy preocupados por la asistencia

de nuestros estudiantes a la escuela. Quere-

mos pedirle que se comprometa a asegurar-

se de que su hijo(a) asista a la escuela todos

los días.

La evidencia es clara: los niños con buena

asistencia tienen más probabilidades de tener éxito en la escuela.

La asistencia está vinculada al alto rendimiento académico de

los estudiantes. Esto es cierto para todos los estudiantes de pri-

maria, secundaria y preparatoria.

Cada día y cada minuto cuenta. El faltar a la escuela o llegar

tarde aunque sea el 10% del tiempo tiene un impacto negativo

significativo en el logro de lectura y matemáticas a medida que

los niños progresan a través de la escuela.

Como saben, como escuela tenemos un desafío de clase llamado

"WE BEAT THE BELL" (Le ganamos a la campana)

Todos los días, si la clase entera está en su asiento a tiempo la

clase colorea una letra. Al final de cada mes la clase que tiene

más letras coloreadas recibe un premio. Sólo hay 13 letras y los

estudiantes asisten a la escuela un mínimo de 20 días por mes,

por lo tanto, como clase es posible colorear todas las letras en el

mes.

Además, los estudiantes que tienen

asistencia perfecta (sin tardanzas o

ausencias) por trimestre serán ingresa-

dos en una rifa con la oportunidad de

ganar una tarjeta de regalo.

Esta demostrado que los estudiantes con buena asistencia se

desempeñan mejor en matemáticas y lectura. Los niños que tie-

nen una buena asistencia en el Kindergarten hasta el 2o grado

tienen más del doble de probabilidades de obtener puntaje alto

en las pruebas de matemáticas del estado comparado con sus

compañeros que faltan más a la escuela.

La buena asistencia comienza temprano. Los estudios han de-

mostrado que los hábitos de asistencia establecidos entre el Kin-

der y el 2 grado tienen efectos duraderos en los estudiantes du-

rante toda su educación: los niños con alta asistencia en los pri-

meros grados continúan teniendo buena asistencia; Y los estu-

diantes con baja asistencia en los grados tempranos son más pro-

pensos a tener baja asistencia-y menor rendimiento académico-a

lo largo de sus años de primaria y secundaria.

Estoy pidiendo su apoyo para ayudar a su hijo(a) a llegar a la

escuela a tiempo, a las 8:00 am cada día. Su hijo necesita estar

en la escuela y aprender para alcanzar su máximo potencial.

2a oportunidad de Desayuno !!! La escuela Monroe dará inicio a un nuevo programa de

desayuno. Los estudiantes que no desayunen antes de venir

a clases tendrán la oportunidad de hacerlo a su hora de re-

creo.

El desayuno es la comida mas importante del día. Un buen

desayuno nos prepara para el día. En general, los niños y

adolescentes que desayunan tienen más energía, les va me-

jor en la escuela, y comen más saludable durante todo el

día. Sin desayuno, nos podemos poner mas irritables, in-

quietos y cansados.
