Thomas is an alumni that graduated from MU in 2006from the Anthropology program. He served in the Armyfrom 2013-2019 as a Field Artillery Control Specialistwhich plots targets for cannon batteries and a variety ofother weapon systems. He also served as the RegimentalHistorian where he orchestrated the unit's WW1Centennial by locating the shell tube of the first roundfired by the AEF against the German Army in 1917. Mark is a freshman studying Social Work. He served 4 years in theMojave Desert as a Sergeant in the Army while stationed at Ft.Irwin, California. He prepared troops for desert warfare in the firstGulf War while attached to a medical company.

"I remember one Christmas around 1985 (it was 116 degrees), & Iwanted to come back to New Jersey so bad (I love winter). Whilestationed there, I lived out of a tent & ate MREs for twenty daysevery month. One of my best memories was when I was able tofly in a Black Hawk helicopter. The Warrant Officer made sure Ihad a big breakfast because we would be out all day on missions.They all had a good laugh at my expense; as I turned sevenshades of green...I was sick for two days.

Alex is a senior studying Computer Science. He served3 years as a Combat Engineer (Sapper) in the Army.He deployed to Iraq between 2005-2007 as part of theOIF IV Operation Iron Claw, Iron Horse, Iron Eagle, &Baghdad Security Belt. His missions involved routeclearance & counter Improvised Explosive Device (IED)Operations.

Alex shares a picture from his time at Patrol Base 14 nearBaghdad in 2006. He explains how several soldiers werekilled in this area and they were dispatched as a CombatEngineer team to construct a defensive patrol base andsupport a cav-scout team by stress testing it for severaldays under enemy observation. Here I'm standing onthe barrier and providing security for the rest of myteam as they erect the first defense line.

He retired as aCommand Master Chief for the Director of OperationalLogistics (DOL), Norfolk, VA. in October 2021. He served32 years in the Coast Guard Reserve, including five yearsactive duty in response to the attacks of September 11th,and in support of the war on terror in Afghanistan andIraq. Frank also deployed to the Deepwater HorizonDisaster along the Gulf Coast in 2010.
