Catholic Appeal Update
Great progress ! I am very happy to announce that we are at 87% of our goal due to the generosity of many parishioners. We have benefitted greatly from central ministries in the nearly two years I have been serving in the parish. We continue to receive their help in many areas including our Disciples in Mission initiative and abatements. If you haven’t yet made a pledge or an offering please consider helping us to reach our goal of $25,209 Currently: $22,021

Note from the pastor: Praise God we are starting to feel the great spring weath-er, the trees are in full leaf and the dormancy of winter has come back to life. We even saw the sun a little bit. We are a resurrec-tion people, we know that each spring we have another cycle of new life. While it has been a rainy spring, it hasn’t been a difficult spring. We pray for all those who are suffering from extreme weather, floods and tornadoes. I am grateful for the help I’ve received with the land-scaping, especially at Most Blessed Sacrament. I am looking for a few people who would like to help out in the gardens again this year to keep them weeded and watered. If you are able to help, please let me know. It would be great to have a couple people taking care of particular areas. I have hired a part time mainte-nance person to help, but he is working only a few hours a day, three days a week, that’s all we can afford at this time. I am very grateful and appreciative of all we are getting done. As you may have heard, the city is interested in using our hall as an emergency shelter in case there is another crisis, as they did during the last crisis. This may help us finance some of the critical updates that are needed. That is encouraging to me, as we don’t have the funds to get everything done. The last two sec-tions of roof at St. Thomas Aquinas hall will soon be repaired and replaced, after which the building shouldn’t need any roof work for 40-50 years (please God). Keeping boats, trucks, and equipment out of our parking lot at MBS is a continuous battle. New signs have helped, but not stopped the problem. A beautiful statue of Our Lady from Italy has been do-nated by the generosity of a parishioner in memorial of family members. I hope to have it on display and an unveiling and bless-ing soon at Our Lady of Good Counsel. More info on that to fol-low. On the list of things to do includes a new floor in the sacristies and adjoining hallways at MBS. The rooms are already repaired and painted. I would love to see MBS lit up better at night outside with new LED lighting which are not very expensive to operate. If you see something that needs attention please let me know. My email is published in every bulletin, as is our phone number. One of the areas of ministry that is growing is our homebound ministry. Please let us know if you or someone you know is homebound and would like communion brought to them or if they are sick and could benefit from the prayers for healing and the sacrament of the sick. Building up our parish community is of highest priority, I hope many will come to our parish spring picnic June 2 at noon. Faith is a community event, and we have a great community here at Holy Trinity Parish. Blessings to all. Fr. Martin
