Progeny of Alloura‘super sires’ offeredTHE lineup of sale bullsat Alloura Angus at Yassfeatures sons of three bullsselected in Angus Australia’sSire Benchmarking Program.

One of the key objectivesof the program is to discovernew ‘super sires’, with com-prehensive evaluation ofprogeny from the selectedbulls for growth, carcase, fer-tility and feed efficiency.

It is the largest singlebreed progeny test programever conducted in Australia.

Where the show ring wasonce where studs weremadeand broken, increasinglybeef producers are lookingfor real results and programslike the Sire BenchmarkingProgram are being used toidentify and test the top bulls– not merely based on howthey look, but rather howwell their progeny perform.

The Angus Sire Bench-marking Program, now in-cludes bulls from Australia,New Zealand, the USAand the United Kingdom,is co-funded by Angus

Australia andMeat and Live-stock Australia.

All calves born under theprogram are weighed for 200and 400 day Wts and DNAsamples are collected for sireverification and high qualityDNA storage.

Steer calves are back-

grounded before feedlotentry and the steers arefeed efficiency tested at theUniversity of New England’sTullimba Research Facilityand feedlot before beingslaughtered and assessedfor carcase and meat qualitydata. Heifers are grown out

for joining to enable assess-ment of fertility and calvingease data.

Alloura Angus has bredthree of the bulls selected inthe Benchmarking program- ‘Alloura Fourth DimensionF27’, ‘Alloura Get Up andGo G19’ and ‘Alloura - GetCracking G10’.

All three bulls have per-formed well and now havemore than 300 analysedprogeny.

For the first time this yearAlloura Angus is offeringsale bulls sired by all threebulls in the BenchmarkingProgram.

The bulls will be availablefor inspection and purchaseat the annual Alloura Angusspring open days.

The 2016 Alloura AngusStud spring open days arescheduled for Friday andSaturday, September 16and 17, 2016 at ‘Alloura’, 598Goodhope Road Yass from10am and 3pm on each day.

Forty bulls will be availa-ble for purchase.

STUD SALE: Alloura Angus, located at Yass, will welcomebuyers to view and purchase stock during open days onSeptember 16 and 17.
