The following Kiwanians helped at the tree planting: Bill Brady, Walt Chaney, Mike Flood, Don & Alice Lewis, Jen Lewis, Dave Thomas, Bob Warner, and Tim LePontois. Bev DeHaven (Joe Ciricosta’s daughter) was there to help plant the tree honoring Joe and Bernice. The intent is to install a plaque at the entry to the original Elementary School off Bev adds a shovel o f dirt to the hole Granger, listing the people who are honored by the planting of the trees. “Each tree will be dedicated to the memory/honor of a person who has been influential in the schools.” Jessica Wilson sent out this statement to the second grade teachers on 11/10 explaining what the purpose of the planting will be and they could invite the students’ parents to attend the planting. I am glad to say some did attend. The students watered the trees, filled and compacted the dirt around the root ball of the tree, spread topsoil and mulch around the tree. One pupil asked how old the trees were? Mike said they were about 7 – More water 8 years old. He talking to the 2nd graders who were born about the same time the tree was born so to speak. And it is up to them to grow now and to remember they helped plant this tree, and they can come back and point out to their children that they helped plant this tree. The first tree planted at the Playground fence is in Honor of Jessica Wilson. The second tree In front of the existing elementary school on Granger St. is in honor of Joe and Bernice Ciricosta. I didn’t hear who the second and third trees planted at the playground fence A stomping good time.
were in honor of. The names that have been mentioned are: Kiwanians Bob Mason (elem. Sch. guidance counselor), Charlie Morris (elem. Principal), Fred Weaver. Bob Also mentioned is Noreen Pinkerton (retired 2nd grd. teacher) who was very active in helping to teach the students about maple syrup production and I liked the red head covering. arranging for their trips to the sugar shack. I don’t know if this means anything but when we took a lunch break I noticed two deer, an 8-‐point buck and a doe at the School Districts office building. They may have been looking for fresh Maple trees to feast on and they went to the wrong building. I don’t know for sure but? Elect and arranged the programs, then Pres. and now Past Pres. Tom said maybe this should not be a Past Pres. Party but a Gratitude Party for all our members who make the President’s position a really easy job. “It has been a great pleasure to serve as president in an organization dedicated to serve the children of the world and locally. For 50 years we have worked to support the community by loving it, living it and sharing it. Kiwanis club is a true team who works together. I have enjoyed having as a part of each meeting presenting the I Bet You Didn’t Know items.” At this time Tom was interrupted by Tim LePontois with “I Bet You Didn’t Know” about Tom Harvey’s past such as: Tom in school wore knee high boots, bib overhauls and long hair; Tom after graduation from college sold disposable diapers for Johnson and Johnson; Tom in his senior year of high school was voted athlete of the year; Tom drove 10 hours to Colgate for a class reunion to find when he got there it was the wrong weekend, he returned home and went back the next weekend. Tom can eat half a pie in one sitting, Tim wondered about this considering his placing in the ice cream eating contest at the 4th, etc.. Tom continued along the line of bet you didn’t know.
