Orchestra Concert TONIGHT! LOPAC 7 p.m.
Our Special Olympics Basketball Team won the 3-on-3 Tournament for District 7 at Airport High School on Friday. We played River Bluff in the Championship game and won 22-20. Team members are: Stephen Brown, B.J. Currence, Brandon Powell, Brian Robinson, Curtis Russell, Matt Sparks, and Chris Tyler.
As a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the National Honor Society is sponsoring an arm-wrestling competition during all ILT's March 13-17. Students can pay $5 to sign up this week.
Celebrate World Language Week! For Spanish and Portuguese Day on Friday, March 10, we are having a Spanish and Portuguese-themed talent and fashion
show. Come to the World Language lab Monday, March 6 or Tuesday, March 7 during your ILT to sing a Spanish or Portuguese song, or to show off your favorite traditional outfit or jersey from a Spanish or Portuguese-speaking country.
We will vote for the best talent or fashion on Friday, March 10. Chalk Day T-shirts will be sold during all ILTs Wednesday – Friday, March 8 – 10.
Shirts are $10. Cash or checks payable to LHS will be accepted. Student shirts will be delivered to their first block LHS teacher on March 28.

Friday, March 10 10 – 11 a.m. A representative from the above mentioned colleges will be visiting with
LHS to answer any questions about their college. If you would like to visit with the representative come by the counseling office to receive a pass.
SC Student Loan is glad to announce that the 2017-18 SC Teacher Loan Application is available at http://www.scstudentloan.org/UserFiles/File/PDF/parentstuds/Teacher(1).pdf.
The SC Teacher Loan Program was established by the State of South Carolina to help talented and qualified students become teachers. Students can borrow up to $2,500 per year in their freshman and sophomore years and $5,000 per year in their junior and senior years. The loan is 100% forgivable if the recipient teaches in certain critical geographic or subject areas in South Carolina. Questions regarding this program, please feel free to contact us at (800)347-2752. If you are over 3 unexcused absences in a 9 week class you will need to make up the seat time
by doing after school detention. If you do not make up the seat time before the end of the
quarter which is Wednesday, March 15, you will get a "failed due to absences" for your
9 week class even if you pass it. Please come see Mr. Verburg to coordinate your detention if
you are over in unexcused absences.
Student IDs Please remember that if you forget your student ID, you can
purchase a temporary for $0.50 OR purchase a brand new ID for $5.

Grief Group Lexington High School counseling department would like to offer our students an opportunity to
participate in a Grief Group. If you have experienced the loss of a loved one, we would love to help you with your grieving process. Sometimes it helps to be with others who have suffered a loss of a loved one. Our goal for this group is to learn about the process of grieving and the unfamiliar emotions associated with grief. ATTENTION Rising Juniors and Seniors: Would you like to be a UNIFIED CHAMPION?
Applications are being accepted for 2017-18 PE2/Unified Champions (aka Project Unify). This
course is a training program for Special Olympics. Unified Champion "Partners" work with the
athletes in preparation for Special Olympics competitions. Partners are required to actively
participate daily with the athletes, be a member of the Be a Fan Club, and attend off-campus
athletic events. Applications can be picked up from Counseling and Advisement Office, Mrs.
Crowley (M103), Coach Spires, or Coach Gettys. Please return applications, essays, and teacher
recommendations to Mrs. Crowley.
Are you interested in Fashion? Love to travel?
The Fashion Merchandising students from LTC will travel to New York City December 6-9, 2017 to explore the fashion capital of the US. We will tour the fashion district, see a Broadway show and enjoy many other sights in the city!
In order to attend you must be enrolled in a Fashion Marketing (level 1) or Merchandising (level 2) class at LTC for the 2017-18 school year! Blanchard Machinery Company, the Caterpillar heavy equipment and engine dealer for the state of South Carolina is looking for students to participate in an educational and employment opportunity – the Caterpillar Dealer Academy.
The Caterpillar Dealer Academy is a partnership between Florence-Darlington Technical College and the Caterpillar Dealers of the Carolinas. The Caterpillar Dealer Academy couples classroom and lab instruction with real, on-the-job experience. Caterpillar Dealer Academy students are part-time Blanchard Machinery employees while in the program and earn an hourly wage for every hour worked in the dealership. The result of the classroom and on-the-job experience is a two-year Associate Degree.

There is one major college fair that comes through the area each spring- sponsored the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC). It is a great opportunity to connect with colleges you may want to pursue, let them know you're interested, and investigate colleges you haven't heard of before. Teen Talk The times are from 10:30 – 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Teen Talk is held in Room B210 each week during your lunch time. Need someone to talk to and share what is on your mind? Teen Talk gives you an opportunity to get together with friends, enjoy group discussions, and share what's on your mind. Some of the topics that are covered include self-esteem, decision making, relationships and future career goals. Learn how to make healthy choices. Join your friends and enjoy the group discussions.

Girls will begin at 8 – 8:45 a.m., boys will follow. Physicals are $10 and will be on file for the 2017-2018 school year.
