Mildura and Bendigo are the two regional placements for Extended Rural Cohort students. Students spend their first two years at the Clayton campus with two weeks in their second year spent in a rural area. The next two years are based in north- west Victoria and are dedicated to a mix of clinical training rotations and formal tutoring in hospitals, general practices and other health services. The final year comprises a series of hospital-based rotations in rural, metropolitan and sometimes overseas placements.

    Weekly scenarios with Sim-Man in theskills lab

    Hospital rotations include being rosteredon Medical, Surgical and Orthopaedic

    12 to 14 students

    Additional opportunities to experienceCardiology stress testing andechocardiography, hospital teaching sessions, Aboriginal health, and attending theatre sessions

    Year 4C

    9 students per semester rotating through an integrated program of Children's Health, Medicine of the Mind and Women’s Health with one day per week in a GP clinic

    Year 5

    Rotations in Medicine, General Surgery, Aged Care, Emergency Department, Cardiology, Indigenous Health, Psychiatry
