Introduction
Have you ever looked at a door and wondered what might be on the other side? Where may it lead? What may be hiding within? At first glance, a door is just a piece of wood, glass or metal that is opened and closed so that people can get in and out of a room, a vehicle or a space. But in the hands of a writer, a door represents a world of possibility. This week, we will do lots of different activities all building towards a ‘portal story’ at the end of next week.
What to do today:
Today you will hear a poem that will help you to start to think about what could be behind a mysterious door. You will then write your own poem!
1)Watch Kit Wright read his poem ‘The Magic Box’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zkpmhyc
2)Make a mindmap of all the things that could be behind a door. Use your imagination - there
are no wrong answers here!
3)Have a go at writing a poem using all of your ideas. Look at this example of a first verse to help you:
Your poem should have 2 or more verses.
