• Molecular Formula: CaCO₃• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Calcium Carbonate is mainly used

to prevent and treat calcium deficiencies. It can be taken as a medication or contained in different types of food. It helps the body keep healthy bones, muscles, nervous system, and heart.

Compound 3 - Sodium Ascorbate

• Molecular Formula: C₆H₇NaO₆• Organic because it contains Carbon.• Summary: Sodium Ascorbate contains sodium

and either ascorbic acid or vitamin C. It is used as a nutritional supplement and a food additive. It is made to easily provide Vitamin C to the body. The Vitamin C can benefit a person’s bones, connective tissue, and blood vessels.

Compound 4 - Riboflavin

• Molecular Formula: C₁₇H₂₀N₄O₆• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Riboflavin helps with many things

such as body growth and red blood cell production. It is often contained in dairy products. It is used to prevent migraines, cervical cancer, and a deficiency in riboflavin.

Compound 5 – Folic Acid

• Molecular Formula:  C₁₉H₁₉N₇O₆• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Folic Acid is required by federal law

to be added to cereals, flour, breads, pasta, bakery items, cookies, and crackers. It is used to prevent and treat folic acid deficiency. It is used to prevent miscarriages and birth defects as well as many other health problems. It is usually found in leafy vegetables.

Ibuprofen

• Description: Pain reliever and fever reducer.• Ingredients: Active – Ibuprofen 200 mg.

Inactive – carnauba wax, corn starch, fumed silica gel, hypromellose, lactose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polydextrose, polyethylene glycol, red iron oxide, sodium starch glycolate, stearic acid, titanium dioxide

Compound 1 - Ibuprofen (Active Ingredient)

• Molecular Formula: C₁₃H₁₈O₂• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory

that does not use steroids. It is used to relieve arthritis pain, menstrual pain, and other pains without making the person lose consciousness.

Compound 2 - Lactose

• Molecular Formula: C₁₂H₂₂O₁₁• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Lactose is milk sugar that gives your

cells energy when you eat. Whole lactose can’t be absorbed by you’re your body but parts of it can be, such as sugars, glucose, and galactose. It immediately gives you energy.

Compound 3 - Magnesium Stearate

• Molecular Formula: Mg(C₁₈H₃₅O₂)₂• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Magnesium Stearate is used to

package vitamin capsules and tablets. It is used to hold the tablets together and help them break apart easily. Some people have concerns that it can cause your body harm when it is ingested as part of the medicine.

Compound 4 - Red Iron Oxide

• Molecular Formula: Fe₂O₃• Inorganic because it does not contain carbon.• Summary: Red iron oxide is used to polish

metallic jewelry, it is used as a pigment, and it is also used in the production of iron, steel, and alloys. It is sometimes called rust.

Compound 5 - Stearic Acid

• Molecular Formula: C₁₈H₃₆O₂• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Stearic acid is a saturated fatty acid.

It is used in food cosmetics and industrial products. It is often used in candles and can change the melting temperature of a product. It is also widely used in different types of soaps.

• Molecular Formula: C₃H₈O₃• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Glycerin, or glycol, is most

commonly used as a moisturizer for skin. It helps dead skin cells fall off and it helps the skin retain more water. It can also be used for cleaning because it kills all bacteria.

Compound 3 – Lauric Acid

• Molecular Formula: C₁₂H₂₄O₂• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Lauric acid is a saturated fat that is

used to treat viral infections and it prevents the transfer of HIV from mother to child. It is also used to treat bronchitis and intestinal infections. It can also be used to make soap and shampoo.

Compound 4 - Citric Acid

• Molecular Formula: C₆H₈O₇• Organic because it contains carbon.• Summary: Citric acid is mainly found in fruits

and vegetables. It can be used for many things such as cosmetics, food additives, and cleaning products. It softens water, cleans carpets, and is often used to balance pH levels in cosmetics.

Compound 5 – Titanium Dioxide

• Molecular Formula: TiO₂• Inorganic because it doesn’t contain carbon.• Summary: Titanium dioxide is used as a white

pigment in paint and it is used in food coloring. It is used in most sunscreens to protect your skin and is also used in toothpaste and other cosmetic products.
