[ Descriptions ]

AX, Auxiliary Switch

It gives ON/OFF signal of the breaker with a changeover contact.

AL, Alarm Switch

It gives TRIP signal of the breaker.

It does not operate when the breaker is normally opened or closed.

It consists of a changeover contact.

SHT, Shunt Trip device

It make the breaker TRIPPED when any AC or DC voltage

is applied to itself.

UVT, Under Voltage Trip device

It make the breaker TRIPPED when the control voltage disappears or falls.

ΣIMΣIL IWΣIM+ΣIL

ΣIMΣIL, ΣIM50A IW1.25ΣIM+ΣIL

ΣIMΣIL, ΣIM50A IW1.1ΣIM+ΣIL

Select the smaller value between

Ib≤3ΣIM+ΣIL and Ib≤2.5IW

But in case Iw100 and there is

no standard rated current of

a breaker suitable to the value.

You are allowed to selected

the breaker one step larger.

■ Influence of mounting angleHydraulic magnetic type MCCBs are designed to be mounted vertically. If the mounting angle is changed it causes the change of rated current

■Reversed connection of line and load

MCCBs are designed and tested only for the normal connection as shown in Fig. 1.In case of the inverse connection in Fig.2 the specified breaking capacity is not guaranteed.

Standard operating conditions

74 VITZROTECH MCCB

1. Standard operating conditionsStandard operating conditions specified in IEC.1. Operating temperature : -5℃ ~ 40℃2. Relative humidity : 85% or less3. Altitude : 2,000 meters or lower4. Environment : should be free of excessive aqueous vapor, oil, smoke, dust, corrosive gas, inflammable gas

2. Storage and transportation

Do not leave the device in the area where corrosive gas exists.

Keep the switch position at off or tripduring storage.

Do not leave the device in humid environment for an excessive period of time.

Warnings for transportation

Be careful not to drop the device during transportation.

Do not carry the device by the lead wire of an accessory. It will give an excessive force to the accessory.

Do not carry the device upside down if the DIN rail has been attached.

Warnings for mounting

Page 75: Molded Case Circuit Breakers, MCCB Miniature Circuit ...site.iugaza.edu.ps/jtaha/files/2016/10/catalog_mccb_e.pdf · Molded Case Circuit Breakers, MCCB Miniature Circuit Breakers,

3. Mounting and wiring

Avoid direct contact with rain water. oil or smoke dust. Do not block the vent hole. It will deteriorates interruption performance. Secure a sufficient insulation distance on the power source side of the breaker.

Avoid direct sunlight. Erroneous operation may result by increased temperature.

Do not remove the insulation plate attached at the bottom of the device.

Warnings for wiring

If a screw is stained with lubricating oil. remove it from the screw before fastening. It may cause overheating on the device, and the excessive tensile force from the fastening torque on the screw may result in a mechanical damage.

Wire the contactor for each phase so that they are arranged in parallel.

Avoid reversed connection between the sides of power source andthe load on an MCCB in principle. If it is inevitable. consult the makerbeforehand.

Never make reversed connection on an ELB.

On the connected conductors,a large electromagnetic forcetakes place in response to thefault current. Therefore it is necessary to fixthe conductors securely asshown to the right.

Screw fasteningWhen directly fastening a single wire to the terminal with a screw, fasten it by untwisting the wire.in case of a twisted wire, separate the strands into two similargroups and fasten them around the screw.

ELB connection

When using a 3-phase ELB for a single phase 3-wire circuit, the

neutral line should be connected to phase S. (See Fig. 1)

If you use a 3-phase ELB for a single phase 2-wire circuit, each wire

should be connected to the pole at either side. (Leave the pole in

the center unwired.) (See Fig. 2)

If two ELB's are connected in parallel, the magnetic part may be

damaged when leakage takes place. Never connect an MCCB and

ELB in parallel. (See Fig. 3)

ELB Only the circuit voltage.

7. Verify operation by applying a voltage and pushing the test button. The Elb shall trip.

1. Clean and dry environment Once every 2 to 3 years

2. Environment containing dust, corrosive gas, aqueous vapor, salt, etc. Once a year

3. Locations other than described in 1. and 2. Once every 6 months

Notes1. Withstand Voltage test

Perform test at the voltage shown in the table to theright or higher.

2. Insulation Resistance Measurement and WithstandVoltage Test(For an ELB)

Insulation Resistance MeasurementThe insulation resistance at the locations marked with adoes not break down when measured with a 500Vinsulation tester, but it does if 1,000V is applied. Thereading of the tester should be nearly “0”. Measure theresistance with the switch at “off” position. Do not use a1,000V tester.

Withstand Voltage TestDo not apply any voltage at the locations marked with an ×.

Periodic CheckIn order to prevent a fault and use the breaker for a longtime, it is necessary to check the break once after a monthof installation and periodically afterwards depending onthe environmental conditions.

Life expectancy of the product

For maintenance and checks, checking depending on the environment in which the breaker is installed is necessary. However, thelife span of a breaker is not determined by the number of years i has been operating. It takes diagnosis by an expert and requires thefollowing periods in general.

EnvironmentClean and dry

Some dust but no corrosive gas in indoor air

Sulfurous acid gas, hydrogen sulfide, saltand high humidity but small amount of dustParticularly excessive corrosive gas and dust

Check pointsHow to check

Make sure that the terminal screws and wire fixing screws have not unfastened.Use standard tools.Check if the surface of an MCCB, especially the side of the

power source, have gathered dust, oil, etc.In the structure to increase the creepage distance, verify if the

distance has been shortened because of dust and foreign matters. In a breaker whose contacts remain closed normally, prevent

increase of friction caused by hardening of grease or otherreasons by opening and closing the contacts several times.Stabilize the contact resistance resulting form sliding

operation of the contacts. The breaker whose connection conductors have been

excessively discolored requires internal check.Parts made of copper without corrosion resistance treatment

and brass with no plating.Silver plates that have turned black.Measure the insulation resistance between the phases and

the ground with 500V insulation tester. In case of a conductive material, measure the external area.

Countermeasure

Fasten the screws with the specified torque depending on thematerial and the size of the screw.

Remove dust with cleaner or a dry cloth.Neutral detergent. (Corrosive detergent prohibited).

The breaker which does not open or close smoothly requiresservice by the maker.

Slight discoloration of silver plating is not a problem.Take a sample from the same environment and ask the maker

for disassembly and investigation.Replace the breakers with new ones and investigate the cause.

Replace the breaker showing less than 5㏁ in principle andinvestigate the cause of deterioration.

Perform dielectric test on a breaker whose insulation resistance is less than 5㏁.The breaker with sufficient insulation resistance and dielectric strength is judged to be reusable, however, the user is requested to

observe carefully if there is temperature rise or any other abnormality. For an ELB, also verify responses to button operations.
