Placement of ring is in proximity with the fracture site.

Clinical studies have suggested that slight flexion, abduction and external

rotation of the hip results in the lowest intra-capsular pressure -> position of

least pain;

Traction will cause increase in intra-capsular pressure, hence more pain.
