Igniting the Divine Within

Introduction

This module will help you to make inspired decisions. It will help you approach difficult alternatives and make the right choice, as it’s often difficult or impossible to determine the right choice when you seek it through traditional logic or reason, as people normally do.

While searching to ignite the divine within you, this module will explore your divine purpose and how you can recognize it. It will explore the origin of your inspiration and how you can make timely decisions, based upon the Yes, No, Maybe method.

Your natural state is a blank whiteboard open to the messages from the Divine. Remember this as you search for the divine within you.

Objectives

After studying this module, you should be able to accomplish the following:

› Trust the Divine and allow things to manifest in their own way and time.

› Explore ways that you already communicate with the Divine, to glean inspiration, like using Satori moments.

› Invite the Divine to be part of your decision-making process.

› Inventory your life, and discover those things that you are constantly chasing.

› Focus your listening, so that you can actually hear what others, and the Divine, are telling you.

› Use the Yes, No, Maybe method for making decisions.

› De-clutter your life, so the Divine and find you.

“You don ’ t have to see the

whole s ta i rcase ; you just

have to take the f i rs t s tep .”

Pre-Assessment

To assess your current level of understanding about the topics in this module, please answer the following questions. (A Success Journal is available for you to write in, at the end of module 16.)

1. How often do your hope for something, wish for something, work for something, but then don’t open yourself up to the outcome? Why, or why not?

2. How often do you set your expectations on an outcome that’s so specific, it has no chance but to fail? Why?

3. Can you honestly say that you agree with this statement: I know what my divine purpose is. Why, or why not?

4. How do you usually make important decisions? What process do you use?

The World Cycle

If you pay attention to the people of the world in general, you’ll begin to see a pretty fascinating pattern. Almost everyone is complaining and blaming. They are paying close attention to the mainstream media, get-ting terrified, and then making poor choices. The media then reports on those poor choices, people watch the bad news reported to them, and they make even poorer choices. And the cycle continues.

The thing is, the same underlying principle at work in the media (the bad news, poor choice scenario) can be broken. It can be used to cre-ate a more positive outcome. For example, nineteen scientific studies showed that when a small group of people get together and meditate, the violence and crime in their area goes down and the abundance goes up. (I reported on this in my book, The Attractor Factor.) This is called The Maharishi Effect. Transcendental meditation experts first experi-mented with group meditation in the 1990s and repeatedly proved that it made a difference. Now, let’s compare that to our modern reality.

What if you and I joined forces with people trying to think positive thoughts, meditate on abundance, and focus on clear intentions? Wouldn’t we create the opposite of what the mainstream media outlets are doing?

Instead of seeing the bad, feeling the bad, and then acting from a place of desperation and insecurity, we would see the good, focus on the good, and act from a place of security and faith. Which would you pre-fer? The more of us that focus on the positive, the more we can uplift each other to health, wealth, and happiness; and the more we can con-nect with the Divine.

“Let no fee l ing o f

d i scouragement prey upon

you ; and in the end , you are

sure to succeed .”

Your Calling, Your Divine Purpose

The key to success often comes from working backwards. First, dis-cover your life purpose, your calling, your gifts and your strengths, then proceed to do your work. Most people work, hoping that they can find their life purpose. But before they know it, life has passed them by. The key to letting go is to first know your life purpose. Then, letting go takes on a new look. It’s letting go with a purpose, rather than letting go and wishing for the best.

When faced with difficult decisions, you always have a choice, and indecision or doing nothing is one of those choices. Don’t sit back and just hope that the Law of Attraction is going to support you. The Law of Attraction always delivers, even if it’s not something you want. You are responsible for your own choices. While that may give some people a sinking feeling, you can choose to revel in the fact that the power is in your hands to change whatever isn’t working for you. Some of the best miracles happen when you’ve already released the intention and then it suddenly arrives, out of the blue, and shocks you with how perfect a solution it provides.

Trust the Divine

All too often, a person’s resistance to the idea of letting go and trust- ing is really them refusing to let go. They are trying too hard, and they keep beating their heads against brick walls—running into obstacle after obstacle. If you can’t trust your inspiration when it tells you to do something and let go of the need for control, the path becomes clear: trust the Divine within you and follow that inner guidance. When you stop insisting on knowing so much about every situation, you allow yourself to accept and learn; and you will find a better and easier way.

It is very much like standing in a stream. If you insist on knowing where the next firm step is, it’s like walking upstream; however, if you let go and allow the stream to do the work for you, life is much easier. The Law of Attraction is the current and it can carry you beyond all you have imagined. But, it will only work if you let go and allow it to do so. You must stop the habit of worrying and stressing over the details, which is proof that you haven’t let go of your need for control.

Now, this can take some practice. For example, and you may not believe this, for most of the first part of my life, I was an introvert. I never imagined being in front of a group of people and speaking, let alone appearing in movies or videos. Now, I can’t imagine not doing those things.

“You don ’ t have to see the

whole p i c ture . Go wi th the

p iece you have in hand . Do

what your hear t says to do.

On the long road , you can ’ t

go wrong.”

Volume 2: Manifesting

Once I let go of the fear and the need to control every aspect of my life, I improved tremendously! I always get a chuckle out of those people who are shocked at how much better their lives become when they get out of the way! Stop trying to manage the little stuff and allow the Divine to bring miracles into your life, every day.

Once you firmly grasp the idea that miracles are possible every day of your life, it becomes easy to expect them. Still, I’m often pleasantly surprised by when and how they show up! This is probably because I notice them more because my mind isn’t as cluttered with all the details, which I used to control. I now release them, and it allows room for me to accept the gifts that are waiting in my life. You can be a part of this too; in fact, you already are.

Recognize the Divine

We all have inspiration, which are thoughts and ideas of what our life could be. Yet, some people just don’t recognize it. When we release the how, we’re open to receive miracles and to expect them. All kinds of things can begin to happen. The synchronicity in our lives occurs more often, as events coincide with other events and we begin to see the flow of the Divine through our lives, like a river.

The Origin of Inspiration

Inspiration originates with the Divine; and if you act on that inspi-ration and then release it back to the Divine, you reap the rewards. It may come as a soft whisper of inspiration or a sudden explosion of excited thought; both are capable of giving you what you want most, even if you’re not sure how it will happen.

For instance, say you have a desire for greater wealth in your life and you also have a hobby that you’re passionate about. So, you align your-self with the source and then a little thought trickles in: “What if I do this and that with my hobby and turn it into a business?” Thereafter, you research it (action), you develop a business plan (action), you find your market (action), and you build your store—online or otherwise—(action) or consign your product for sale (action). Soon after, money starts coming in. Wow!

Notice how inspired action follows each step, as it appears before you. Like Dr. Martin Luther King said, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase; you just have to take the first step.”

Committing to inspired action is a step-by-step process. In other words, you have to take it one step at a time. You don’t have to see the whole picture. Go with the piece you have in hand. Do what your heart says to do. On the long road, you can’t go wrong.

You can accomplish anything by taking one step at a time. It is the same with creating the life you want to live. If you try and look at the whole project, or the big picture, it may very well scare you away from your dreams. Most people walk away and don’t even try. The trick is to focus on the moment. That is, focus and do what is asked of you in the moment you are asked, for that is truly your only place of power.

Yes, No, or Maybe

Over dinner, I once told my friend, Mandy Evans, about some hard decisions I had to make: one about purchasing a house and the other about my project (Operation YES) to end homelessness. I wanted her feedback on these decisions.

She explained that a client of hers only does yeses. In other words, when he is faced with a decision, he asks himself, “Is it a no, a maybe, or a yes?” Then he listens for an instant inner feeling of no, he should not do it; or, maybe he should; or, yes, it’s a doer! He doesn’t do any noes or maybes.

It seems almost childish, because it’s so simple. But think about this profound method for cutting through all of your decision making and worrying. For example, this is what happened when I applied this method to purchasing my house and my project to end home- lessness.

As I looked at each of my decisions, I asked myself, “Is it a yes, a no, or a maybe?” It was instantly liberating!

In the case of the house, I got a no. I wanted it to be a yes, but the house wasn’t exactly right, despite great views, the loca-tion, etc. I’m still open to a new house, just not that particular one.

In the other case, I was thinking about the city I was invited to launch Operation YES in. My first response, when thinking about it, was a queasy one: I felt dread. When I asked if it was a yes, a no, or a maybe, I got a clear no. That made me feel lighter.

Volume 2: Manifesting

But then I realized that if I adjusted a few things with the project, and got more support for it, I could go into the tentative city to launch Operation YES. And my then my answer turned from a no to a yes!

As you can see, asking if a choice is a yes, a no, or a maybe gives you instant clarity. From there, you can reshape your decision, or just let it go. For Mandy, and for me, life is about following your inner guidance system. Your inner guidance system, in my words, is the Divine leading your way. It shows up in your life as that yes feeling you get when you have a choice to make. Follow that choice, and you should be well, in the most beautiful, magical, and even miraculous way.

Post-Assessment

Use the following questions to evaluate what you have learned from this module. (A Success Journal is available for you to write in, at the end of module 16.)

1. How will you open yourself up Divine?

2. How will you set your expectations, so that you cannot fail?

3. What is your divine purpose?

4. How will you make decisions in the future? What process do you use?

When you are in your most natural state, you are like a blank whiteboard open to messages from the Divine. It is here where you can experience Satori moments—ones in which you merge with all beings and where you experience a oneness in your con-nection with the Divine. The best way to prepare for a Satori moment is to meditate, to pray, to focus, to clear yourself of your daily pressures, tasks, and surroundings. Do you currently take time to meditate or pray? For one week, take ten minutes of every day and try it. Record your results and discuss what you discov-ered about yourself with your coach.

Incessantly chasing things is an illusion that can keep you preoc-cupied and distracted from your present moment happiness. Per-form an inventory of your life and list those things that you are constantly chasing, believing that by acquiring them you will find happiness.

If you are not present or in the moment with the people you love and care about, how can you expect to be so with the Divine? Try this exercise at least one day this week:

When someone is speaking to you, note if you are focusing com-pletely on them and what they’re saying. (If not, you are most likely focusing on the next thing that YOU are going to say.) Listen in the moment throughout the day, and make note of any insights you have about your experiences.
