Here is a shot of one of his assembledpuzzles in differing hardwoods. Notethat each piece is individually numbered.I like the finish; perhaps Stephen willtell us what he used.

Here are all the puzzle parts plusinstructions sitting in a purpose madebox.

"There are loads of burr puzzle designs -all the possibilities have been calculatedon computer and they range fromrelatively simple - solid key piece throughto fiendishly difficult. There is a ratingsystem based on the number of movesrequired to remove the first piece, 1being easy i.e. straight out, and 10 beingthe most difficult. If you are havingproblems I recommend trying a levelone!"

Something I have never made. Mustmake a mental note to go and try some.

"My 'hod' for mounting jigs, which sits inthe mortise rail and is attached frombelow. Threaded inserts allowattachment of jigs to top and front. Ihave jigs for grooving, mitre slots,dovetails etc which all mount onto here -as does the one for cutting burr puzzlepieces."

"My version of a burr making jig which

tracks the pieces through and allowsmultiple pieces to be cut at a time.Pieces can be rotated etc. to achieverequired notches. You just need to becareful to arrange the cut order/piecesto avoid breakout etc".

Steve prints out and uses a cutting guideas seen here.

The router is a Trend T5 mounted on hisLittle Rat.The mortise rail is WoodRat's MR3.

"My cutting technique goes something like this:-

1. Cut the stock to size - obviously each part must be perfectly square. For somereason I use 28mm stock.2. Cut the pieces to length. Most burrs are 6 units (a unit being half the stockthickness) so 84mm in my case.

3. Arrange 3 or (more pieces) in the carrier and clamp with waste on leading andrear edges to avoid breakout. Using 1 unit bit (i.e. 14mm in my case) depth bit to14mm using the top surface of the pieces as a reference.4. Print out a guide using tables in word or similar where the lines are effectivelyat 14mm spacing but are offset by 7mm and therefore represent the centres ofthe notches and ends of the pieces. Tape this to the north-south plate. Zero therouter to a reference position relative to the pieces and attach a cursor to therouter plate against the relevant point on the template lines (see the pictureabove).

5. Track through the cutter (several passes to remove full depth). Starting withcentre slots and working outwards. The arrangement of pieces depends on theburr pattern that you are cutting. Most pieces will have the central notchesremoved in at least 1 orientation. Pieces can be rotated in position to cut notchesat different orientations or removed altogether if they don't require notches inthat position."

Well Stephen excellent work there. Well done. Can you image how much that box ofpuzzles would cost if it were for sale in Harrod's? Learning how to assemble andtake apart all those must take months!

Aqu es un tiro de uno de sus puzzlesmontados en diferentes maderas. Tengaen cuenta que cada pieza est numeradaindividualmente.Me gusta el acabado; tal vez Stephen nosdir a lo utiliz.

Aqu estn todas las piezas delrompecabezas ms instruccionessentados en un propsito hizo cuadro.

"Hay cargas de diseos de burrpuzzle -todas las posibilidades se han calculadoen equipo y que van desde relativamentesimple - slida pieza clave a travs de adiablicamente difcil. Hay un sistema declasificacin basado en el nmero demovimientos necesarios para quitar laprimera pieza, 1 como fcil es decirdirectamente fuera y 10 como el msdifcil. Si tiene problemas recomiendotratar de nivel uno!"

Algo que nunca he hecho. Debe tomarnota mental para ir y probar algunos.

"Mi versin de una burr haciendo jig quelas piezas a travs de pistas y permitevarias piezas a cortar en un momento.Piezas pueden girarse etc. para lograrmuescas necesarias. Slo necesita sercuidadoso para organizar lasorden/piezas cortadas para evitarbreakout etc.".

Steve imprime y usa a una gua de cortecomo se ve aqu.El router es una tendencia de T5montado en su pequea rata.El ferrocarril de tiradores es MR3 dephenax.

1. Cortar la bolsa tamao - obviamente cada parte debe ser perfectamentecuadrado. Por alguna razn utilizar material de 28 mm.2. Cortar las piezas a la longitud. La mayora zumbidos son 6 unidades (una unidad esmitad el grosor del material) as 84 mm en mi caso.

3. Organizar 3 o (ms piezas) en la compaa y abrazadera con residuos en losbordes principales y traseros para evitar breakout. Uso de 1 bit de profundidad debits (es decir, en mi caso 14 mm) de unidad a 14 mm con la superficie superior delas piezas como referencia.4. Imprima una gua de uso de tablas en word o similar donde las lneas sonefectivamente en espaciado de 14 mm pero se compensan por 7 mm y representan,por tanto, los centros de los extremos de las piezas y muescas. Esta cinta a la placade norte a sur. Cero el router a una posicin de referencia relativa a las piezas yadjuntar un cursor para la placa de enrutador contra el momento pertinente en las

lneas de plantilla (vase la imagen anterior).5. Seguimiento a travs de la herramienta de corte (varias pasadas para quitarprofundidad total). Comenzando con ranuras de centro y trabajando hacia elexterior. La disposicin de piezas depende del patrn de burr que est cortando. Lamayora de piezas tendrn las muescas centrales en orientacin al menos 1. Piezasse pueden rotar en posicin para cortar muescas en diferentes orientaciones oquitar por completo si no requieren muescas en esa posicin. "

Bien Stephen excelente trabajo all. Bien hecho. Puede imagen cunto ese cuadrode puzzles costara si fuera en venta en de Harrod? Aprender a armar y desarmartodos los tomar meses!

Una manera ideal de la utilizacin de todos los extremos de la chatarra.

Supongo que para que este mtodo funcione correctamente y un bit de enrutadorde dimetro precisa es esencial. Una de las veces cuando una escala digital podraser una gran ventaja.
