About CNC Models

Established in 2005 in the Commonwealth of Virginia, CNC Models began with the intent of

bringing the latest technology and materials to model ship building. CNC Models uses

Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment to produce superstructure kits and other

ship parts. Mr. Charles Huet is a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineer and has designed,

manufactured, and integrated shipborne equipment, simulators, and satellites. Mr. Huet uses his

experience and skills to develop accurate Computer Aided Design (CAD) models which are then

used to design the superstructures and other components of model ships. While great accuracy

and precision are used to manufacture CNC kits, assembly still requires modeling skills and

some sanding and fitting. CNC Models is ready to assist any modeler build his/her dream model

ship. Custom work can be performed and is added to the existing line. CNC Models also has

metal cutting equipment and can produce running gear for models ships. CNC Models is a

retailer for Rivabo propellers and includes them in the running gear sets. In 2009 CNC Models

became a distributor for Sitek propellers and running gear.

In 2008, CNC Models began a partnership with PS Ships in order to provide quality fiberglass

hulls and fittings in addition to superstructures. CNC Models keeps a large stock of hulls and

fittings in order to provide quick delivery and excellent service. Out of stock items are delivered

in 8 weeks or less if they have to be ordered from PS Ships. CNC Models, PS Ships, and

Westcoast Models are working together to expand the available ship kits. This year we will

introduce a USS Virginia CG-38, USCGC Bertholf WMSL750, and a Casablanca class CVE.

We are working on many more ships and suggestions on possible subjects are always welcome.

In order to provide full service to our customers, we carry Spektrum 2.4 GHz radios and

accessories, motors, motor accessories, and speed controls. We are expanding our offerings and

we look forward to serving your ship modeling needs. See you at the lake.

What is Sintra? Why use it on

Supertructures?

Sintra is a lightweight rigid board of

moderately expanded closed-cell PVC

plastic has smooth surfaces ready for

painting. It machines and cuts easily

and can be thermoformed. Sintra

does not get brittle with age or

exposure to sunlight. My USS

Yorktown has a Sintra superstructure

that is 17 years old and still looks

great. Sintra can be glued with CA

medium glue or PVC glue. The light

weight makes it ideal for models that

are sensitive to top weight.

CNC Running Gear

CNC Models Running gear comes ready to install into your model. Shafts are stainless steel and

come threaded for 4mm. Supports are machined out of brass and silver soldered. Propellers are

included with the gear and are threaded for 4mm. A 4mm locking nut is included and the

support is counterbored to hide the nut. Stuffing tubes are made of brass with brass bearings. A

wheel collar is included to secure the shaft. Rudders are made of resin with a stainless steel shaft

installed. Stuffing tubes for the rudders are brass. A steering arm is included with the rudder

assembly.

Overview

Pro Boat’s new waterproof marine electronic speed control is definitely one of the best new values in model boating. The unit’s completely potted electronics are sealed in epoxy and encased in a blue anodized aluminum shell that keeps operating temps cool. In addition to being inexpensive and waterproof, no programming is required. Set up is as simple
