MERE BOASTS DON'T MAKE BIG
Once there was a trader who was often out on business trips. When he
grew old, his son started handling the business but he was very boastful
by nature.
When he went on his first business tour, he was thrilled to see many
new things. Returning home he felt impatient to tell about his
experiences to his mates.
When they all gathered
around him, he told them
many surprising things among
which, he boasted of an
exploit of his own.
He said, "Friends! When I was
in Canada, I participated in
boxing competition and none
could beat me. I was praised
by all and became the talk of
the town. If you don't believe me, better go to Canada and enquire."
Suddenly, one of his friends said, "Why go to Canada, you show your
feat here itself." The trader had no words to reply and got trapped in his
own words.

The King and the Foolish Monkey
Once there was a king, who had a pet monkey.
This monkey was a fool, but was treated royally and moved freely in the king's palace.
He was also allowed to enter the king's personal rooms.
One afternoon, the king was asleep, while the monkey kept a watch.
All of a sudden, a fly came in the room and sat on the king's chest.
The monkey swayed her away, but the fly returned on the king's chest again.
The monkey got very angry and excited. The foolish monkey started chasing the fly with a sword.
As the fly sat on the king's chest again, the monkey hit the fly with all his might. The fly flew away unharmed, but the king was severely wounded.
The wise indeed say: Beware of a foolish friend. He can cause you more harm than your enemy.

MOTHER'S LOVE FOR A BOY
One day Edison came home and gave a paper to his mother. He told her,
“My teacher gave this paper to me and told me to only give it to you” His
mother's eyes were tearful as she read the letter out, “Your son is a
genius. This school is too small for training him. Please teach him
yourself.”
Many years after Edison's
mother had died, Edison
had become one of the
greatest inventors of the
century. One day he was
going through the old closet
and he found that folded
letter. He opened it. The
message written on the
letter was, “Your son is
mentally ill. We cannot let him attend our school anymore. ”
“Edison was a mentally ill child whose mother turned him into the
genius of the century.”
Moral: A Mother's love and upbringing can help change the destiny of a
child.

Set Yourself Free
A man saw some elephants being held only by a small rope
tied to their leg. The elephants could easily break the rope
but they did not even try.
The man saw an elephant trainer nearby and asked why they
did not try to get away. The trainer replied, “When they are
very young we use the same sized rope to tie them and, at
that age, it's enough to hold them. As they grow up, they start
thinking they cannot break away. They believe the rope can
still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
These animals had the strength to easily break free from the
tiny rope but since they believed they couldn't, they were
stuck. This belief held back the elephant from even trying to
break free. Are there any beliefs that hold us back? Let us
break free from such negative beliefs!

The Frog that Refused to Listen
Some frogs arranged a climbing contest to the top of a very
high tower. Lot of frogs gathered to see the race.
The crowd did not believe anyone would reach the top of the
tower. They started shouting, “Oh, way too difficult!” “They
will never make it to the top.” “The tower is too high.” The
frogs began falling down, one by one. The crowd continued to
shout, “ No one will make it”!
More frogs gave up. But one continued to climb and after a
big effort reached the top! All wanted to know how he
managed. It turned out that the winning frog was deaf!
Until we are deaf to other people's opinion about what is
possible, we can never reach beyond the limits others set for
us. Let us be deaf to those who keep telling us that it can't be
done.
