� Street vending is an important source of self-employment for the poor in India

� Street vendors have enough zeal to make life on their own

� Their self – sustenance approach is based on dignity and self respect

� Street vendors are mainly those who are unable to get regular jobs

� According to a report, street vending is defined as -� “it’s probably the primary form of disguised unemployment / under-employment in the country”.

the policy has remained unimplemented primarily due to the

vested interests of those who benefit from keeping the
