Aloha, my name is Moana Klein. I am a stu-dent at Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) and will be graduating May 2016 with my BSBA in General Business. I was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii but I am blessed to be able to call both Hawaii and Japan my home. My mother is from Japan and so every summer my family would travel to Japan for several months to visit my relatives. The culture of Hawaii and Japan has greatly influenced who I am today and the beauty of both places have in-stilled in me a great love of the outdoors. I own a small jewelry business, Mo-Made Jewelry. My designs reflect my love of Hawaii and Japan’s natural beauty. Being able to take a graphic design class during my senior year was such a wonderful experience. I’ve been able to express my creativity through a new outlet. Much like my jewelry designs, many of my graphic design projects also reflect my love of the ocean and the mountains.

For this assignment I wanted to use a personal

photo rather than one that I found on the internet. My fiance

took this photo of me one morning after we kayaked out to the Mokulua Islands. I feel very self-concious to

share this photo, but I liked how raw the photo felt. The editing was done

through Adobe Photoshop using tools such as the clone stamp, spot healing brush, color re-

placement brush, etc.

I wasn’t allowed to watch television growing

up so I had very limited exposure to cartoons. However, when I went

over to a friend’s house and was able to watch cartoons I always loved Tom

& Jerry. I always loved their playful banter. This cartoon of Jerry was

traced using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator.

create an image of what the text describes. The image was created using

Adobe Illustrator.

I created this logo for my jewelry business, Mo-

Made Jewelry. The jewelry line is inspired by nature, particularly the

ocean. I wanted the logo to be simple but be able to effectively reflect my

brand image. The logo was creat-ed in Adobe Illustrator.

As a small business, Mo-Made Jewelry believes in the value of sustain-ability, hardwork, and collaboration. it was important to include in my portfolio. Through the skills that I learned in this graphic de-sign class I was able to design my own wedding invitations which was very personal to me. I cre-

ated the designs using Adobe Illustrator.
