Greetings to all of you! Now
that the MN State Fair is
over, school has begun and
summer is nearly over can
fall be far behind? With fall
comes changes; changes in
weather, changes in our foli-
age, changes to warmer
clothing, changes in our min-
istry workload, etc. Change
is inevitable. How do you
handle change? Do you
handle it with ease or do you
fight it tooth and nail?
PAUMCS is here to help you!
If you want/need help and/or
suggestions on how to handle
change plan to attend our
upcoming MN Chapter
PAUMCS fall event and
annual business meeting at
Christ UMC in Rochester on
Monday, October 14. Our
theme this year is
“Managing Change with
Grace”. Come hear how to
handle change in your
ministry life and
personal life.
Our day will be filled with
information about change.
We will begin with a net-
working discussion time with
others in attendance of how
to make change happen in
your church. We have Rev.
Nancy Wheeler Handlon,
Minister for Congregational
Care at Christ UMC, as one
of our speakers. We will fol-
low with our Annual Busi-
ness Meeting and LUNCH
with an optional visit to
Christ UMC’s Labyrinth.
Our second speaker will be
discussing with us what is
happening within the UMC
denomination as a whole. A
lot of us are curious about
what this possible change
means to our ministries and
our faith. Gail Johnson,
Congregational
Development and Events
Administrator and MN
Chapter PAUMCS member
will give us information
about the upcoming General
Conference which is happen-
ing May 2020. We will end
our day with a Communion
Worship and Installation of
Officers.
The Executive Committee is
working out all the details.
In the meantime, mark your
calendars for Monday,
October 14, and make plans
to attend! Hope to see you
there!
Nancy coordinates three lay visitor teams, working in minis-
tries that include visitation, prayer chain and senior fellow-
ship. As part of her ministry, she visits hospitals, nursing care
facilities, senior residence facilities, and homes regularly. She
is a graduate of Hamline University and Garrett-Evangelical
Theological Seminary, and was appointed to Christ Church in
1998.
"In my ministry with the sick and with the bereaved, I get to
be with people who teach me so much. I get to learn about how
to cherish the gifts of health and life, of family, of faith. I get to
witness courage, persistence, strength. I also love to share min-
istry with colleagues and with laity. It is wonderful to have a
teaching ministry and to help others to learn about caring min-
istries."
“…and you, too, have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.” — MARY OLIVER
Faith Speaker: Rev. Nancy Wheeler Handlon
