MMS EPO Mission Evaluation: An external evaluation was designed to support education and public outreach by establishing criteria for successful activities, monitoring the fidelity of the implementation to the plans, and providing feedback (formative component). A summative evaluation was also incorporated to examine the extent to which, and conditions under which the objectives are met. MMS EPO Mission Plan: An MMS EPO Mission plan was developed containing full descriptions of the programs and activities coordinated through Goddard Space Flight Center. It includes: 1. A detailed plan for each activity aligned to SMD requirements. 2. A justification for the selection of activities. 3. A fully integrated evaluation plan that relates audience and impact. 4. A description of how we will assess the implementation of the plan and its activities. 5. A clearly established timeline and detailed cost for deliverables. MMS EPO Plan and Evaluation U.S. Department of Education: The MMS EPO Mission plan and evaluation was developed in full support of the U.S. Department of Education's considerable effort to promote STEM education and build students’ skills in the STEM disciplines. In addition, it is fully aligned with the NASA Education Portfolio Strategic Framework, which maps NASA’s mission to “Inspire, Engage, Educate, and Employ” our target audiences.

MMS EPO Mission Evaluation:An external evaluation was designed to support education and public outreach by establishing criteria for successful activities, monitoring the fidelity of the implementation to the plans, and providing feedback (formative component). A summative evaluation was also incorporated to examine the extent to which, and conditions under which the objectives are met.

MMS EPO Mission Plan:An MMS EPO Mission plan was developed containing full descriptions of the programs and activities coordinated through Goddard Space Flight Center. It includes: 1. A detailed plan for each activity aligned to SMD

requirements. 2. A justification for the selection of activities.3. A fully integrated evaluation plan that relates audience and

impact.4. A description of how we will assess the implementation of

the plan and its activities. 5. A clearly established timeline and detailed cost for

deliverables.

MMS EPO Plan and Evaluation

U.S. Department of Education:The MMS EPO Mission plan and evaluation was developed in full support of the U.S.

Bookmark/Paper Model Activity:This easy to do activity combines an MMS bookmark with a 1/30-scale model of the MMS spacecraft. Users can also find important URLs and QR codes for quick access to additional information about the science and engineering of the mission. MMS ‘Spatial Geometry’ Math Guide:This guide uses examples from the MMS Mission to introduce mathematics in a real-world context to fifth through eighth graders. It is meant to help students learn about the science, technology, engineering and mathematics of the MMS mission and produce artifacts that can be shared with their peers and family. MMS ‘Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics’ iPad Workshops:A series of ongoing educator workshops were developed and tested at NASA’s IV&V Educator Resource Center (ERC). Each workshop includes the use of educator iPads , MMS content and Space Weather Action Center resources. Workshop templates are being created for national distribution.Support Page: Workshop templates Available SoonPartners: NASA’s IV&V Educator Resource Center (ERC), West Virginia UniversityImpact: WV Workshops (200 Educators), Workshop Templates (National)

NSTA- The Learning Center (in development):In addition to providing professional development, the Learning Center also has an ongoing infrastructure of forums through which educators share best practices, mission resource materials, content information, and a variety of other mission related information in a well-developed and moderated environment.Support Page: http://learningcenter.nsta.org/ Partner: National Science Teachers Association, National AudienceImpact: The Learning Center currently has over 75,000 active accounts.

The Cyber Café Educational Technology Workshop:The online Cyber Café was designed to engage educators in a social learning and educational artifact development process that examines key STEM issues, produces a tangible tool for classroom use and connects teachers to a professional learning network (PLN).Support Page: http://nasa-cybercafe.iste.wikispaces.net/ Partners: International Society of Technology and EducationImpact: 30 Cyber Café Educators, National Product Distribution

‘Full-scale’ Model and Workshop Templates:Middle and high school students in West Virginia will construct and assemble a full-scale model of one MMS satellite. This project will result in a series of educator workshops based on the newly developed MMS Educators Guides, (LEGO, paper, full-scale) MMS models, and the MMS career video series.
