Important Information:

*Advanced Placement Exam: Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Maple Mountain High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn student’s college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.

For the 2018 AP exams, students at Maple Mountain High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access.

Online Exam registration will begin on Tue, Jan 2, 2018 at 12:00 AM and end on Wed, Feb 28, 2018 at 11:59 PM. In order to register, students should click on the link provide on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/450423 to register .To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.

Maple Mountain High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment.

*Junior Students: It is time for Juniors to schedule an appointment for their Plan for College and Career meeting with their Counselor. A registration link will be sent this week to the student email account; students should use that link to sign up for a time that fits their schedule. Parents are also invited to attend these meetings. *ACT Prep Class: Students who are interested in taking an ACT Prep Class can sign up now in the Finance Office. The classes will be January 20 and 27 from 8:00 to 11: 30 a.m. The cost of the class is $50 and includes a preparation book. See your counselor if you have questions about the ACT or the Prep Class. The class will be limited to the first 36 students who sign up. *MATC CNA Certification Classes: The MATC, Spanish Fork Campus, has openings for 2nd semester CNA certification classes. Please contact the Spanish Fork Campus at 801-753-4115,

before this Thursday, Jan 11th, if you are interested, or stop by their campus to get more information and sign-up. *Domino’s Pizza for Lunch: Our school has been selected to host a pilot program with Domino’s Pizza!!! Every Wednesday, during the month of February, students will have the opportunity of having Domino’s Pizza as part of their school lunch meal selection. There is no extra charge for this option. Three varieties will be offered: cheese, pepperoni, and a surprise variety, which will change each week. Being that pizza is so popular and a lunch favorite, this will be a fun change to our school lunch program. *Football Meeting: All 8th and 9th grade boys, that live in the Maple Mountain HS boundary, are invited to attend a weightlifting meeting with their parents. This meeting is mainly for all boys interested in playing football, but all athletes are invited to attend. The Maple Mountain Coaching staff will be introducing the weight lifting program. The weight room will then be open starting January 8th on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5 - 6 PM. The meeting is Thursday, January 4th, at 6 PM at Maple Mountain HS, in room B103.

*Attendance Information: Parents -- Please be reminded that parents can only excuse 1st and 3rd period tardies. Tardies between classes cannot be excused. Parents can only excuse a total of five tardies per term. Also, please understand that if your student is

marked absent or tardy by mistake, they need to visit with the teacher to have it removed or changed. The attendance office cannot remove or change an attendance mark a teacher gives a student, only the teacher can do that. The attendance office can only excuse an

absence but cannot change or remove an absence. As always, please contact Mrs. Davis in our attendance office if you have questions or concerns.

*Mapleton City Youth Council: The Mapleton Youth Council applications are being taken now. If you are interested and would like to apply to be a member of the Mapleton Youth City Council (MYCC), you can find an application at the Mapleton City Building or online at Mapleton.org, Maple Mountain High School, and Mapleton Jr. High School offices, or online at Mapleton.org. To be eligible you must be a Mapleton resident and currently be in the 9th, 10th, or 11th grades. The application must be returned to the Mapleton City Building on or before January 11th, 2018 by 5pm. Absolutely NO LATE applications will be considered. Plan on serving, learning, and having a lot of fun!

*UVU Concurrent Enrollment Info Night: UVU will be holding their next monthly Concurrent Enrollment Information Night on Monday, January 8 at 6 p.m. Students and parents can sign up to attend by visiting the Concurrent Enrollment Advising webpage (https://www.uvu.edu/concurrent/advisement.html) and clicking on the red link: Information Night Registration

Pre-registration is not required, but is appreciated.

MEGA DETENTION: We will be holding 2nd Term Mega Detention for two Monday’s (Dec 18th and Jan 8th),

from 2-5pm, in Room C-207. Students need to pre-pay $5 in the finance office prior to this date to secure

their spot. Students will receive 5 hours of detention credit for serving 3 hours of detention. On Mega

Detention days, ALL students are required to stay the full 3 hours to receive any detention credit!
