Na5onal Press Photographers Associa5on gave onlyone video award this year, an honorable men5on.
Blogger asked: Why didnt you award first throughthird in news video?
The Response: theresa: @Colin this was a realstruggle for us. Many were full of technical errors and
ignored the basic principles of photojournalism. Wesaw lots of evidence of urgency, however we reallycouldnt award anything that had technical orfundamental errors.

Adam Ellick: i did a 3 hour print interview thefirst 5me i met the main guy. that gave me thewide founda5on to decide how to cra the vid
narra5ve. then we met up when things happenedto him like the embassy funding scene. it alsotook several days without the camera with getpermission to talk to the girls. we had to gothrough their grandfather, who was cool, but s5ll
lives according to local customs. so it wasbasically a part 5me project for a month. someweeks less than a hour. other weeks, 3 days.
