Superintendent – Summit View Youth Correctional Center (SVYCC)

Open maximum security juvenile facility with responsibility for physical upgrades to facility ensuring safety of all developing policies, procedures, rules and regulations. First in State to implement PBIS programming system.

Responsible for providing management and oversight of programmatic and operational components of SVYCC, to include: recruiting, hiring, and training staff; participating in both planning and implementation of biennial budget; and ensuring appropriate educational, medical, dental and mental health services are provided to youth.

Prepare and submit monthly and biennial reports, establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including community, agencies, and administrative representatives.

Coordinate services with Nevada Youth Parole Bureau pertinent to institutional release of youth in our care.

of reports and forms submitted for intake, classification, housing, work assignments, discipline and transfer of inmates.

Performed specialized casework dealing with complex legal issues, sentence structure interpretation and multiple difficult inmates. This required comprehensive knowledge of State laws, court orders, consent decrees, and departmental regulations.

Implemented staff training programs in areas of correctional casework.
