THE NEED FOR TRAINING IN POLITICS & GOVERNMENTSociety needs leaders who are dynamic, proactive, capable and above all, knowledgeable. There is a leader hidden within each of us. The few who let go of their inhibitions and seek answers are the ones who take a lead and inspire others. There is a multitude of unanswered questions which we help address and channelize the energy of aspiring leaders to help them realize their dreams. MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) was initiated with the objective of imparting the necessary knowledge & to empower these young aspirants with the wherewithal and the training to be dynamic political leaders. MIT-SOG has been established with the active support of the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy and Peace from the World Peace Centre (Alandi) MAEER's MIT, Pune in 2005.

We are the first institute of its kind in India & Asia to initiate a one year full-time leadership training program designed to help dynamic youth to pursue a career in Politics.The Institute provides much-needed practical exposure to various aspects of government functioning at various levels and grassroot understanding of political systems in India. Our One-Year full time Master’s Program in Government (MPG) offers opportunities to young leaders as Political Analyst, Political Strategist, Campaign Managers, Election Consultants, Constituency Managers, Political Leaders and many more along with being a platform to contest elections.

MASTER’S PROGRAM IN GOVERNMENT One-year Full Time Program

PROGRAM STRUCTURE The One-Year full time Master's Program in Government (MPG) comprises of classroom lectures, assignments, projects and field visits including local, state, national and international study tours. MPG is an experiential learning program where 50% of the learning is imparted through classroom sessions and 50% through various field visits, projects & assignments. Internships & attachments are offered to the students for a duration of two months during the academic year with Political Party Offices and Political Leaders, leading to various career opportunities.

PEDAGOGY — Training on various leadership styles along with detailed study of

many national & international leaders through their biographies— Module based teaching— How to win elections? Allocation of seats in elections. SWOT

analysis of the party as compared to other political parties. How is your political party different from other political parties?

— Case based methodology coupled with study tours & live Project

COURSE SYLLABUS :— Political Marketing and Branding— Political Economy— Public Policy— Global Politics— Law, Public Administration and Governance— Research Methods for Contemporary Political Issues— Social Media Handling

In addition, sessions on Political Leadership, Political Oratory, Communication Skills & Media Interaction with Political leaders are also conducted throughout the academic year.

INTERNSHIPInternship is offered in 2 Phases— Internship during the Program :Students will be attached to a

Political Party/Political Leader of their choice in Pune to conduct

research based on secondary data. The nature of work may vary from handling social media to generating questions for Parliamentary news analysis.

FINAL INTERNSHIP : Students are required to work for a minimum of 2 months with

Political Party Offices and/or Political Leaders towards the end of the academic year.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS— Interactive sessions with national level leaders from Political,

Social, Bureaucratic, Judicial, Media & Corporate sector.— Local Field Visits to NGOs, model villages, Gram Panchayats, Zilla

Parishads, Municipal Corporations, Political Party Offices, etc.— 10-day National Study Tour to Delhi: It is normally conducted

during the budget session beginning in February each year. During the visit, the participants witness, first hand, the proceedings in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. They can interact with Members of Parliament from both houses. Visits are organized to the North Block, South Block, Supreme Court, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Election Commission, etc. Academic sessions are organized at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), the Centre for Science & Environment (CSE), the Centre for Civil Society (CCS), and the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) etc. This also gives the participants an opportunity to interact with many eminent political leaders from various political parties and visit their national offices to understand the functioning of the offices.

— 2-Week International Study Tour to Europe (Optional): This is a unique opportunity for participants to gain exposure to international politics and experience the functioning of international offices. The tour comprises of visits to the British Parliament, Commonwealth Secretariat, British Library, British History Museum and interaction with Members of Parliament. Participants also get a chance to visit the NATO office in Brussels, Belgium; followed by the UNESCO office at Paris, The Hague International University, the Parliament of The Netherlands, International Court of Criminal Justice & international social organizations like GHRD and OPCW. There are also visits to the WTO, UN office, ICRC, OHCHR and the Indian Embassy in Switzerland.

FEE STRUCTURECompulsory: — Course fee `2,50,000/- payable in two instalments (it includes

cost of field visits, National Study Tour & course material offered by the institute).

Optional:— 14-day International Study Tour fee based on actual cost

prevailing at the time of the tour.— Hostel Fee ̀ 50, 000/- includes boarding charges only.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE: MPG-14Eligibility Criteria: Graduates from any discipline are eligible to apply for the

program. Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for the program provided they are able to present their final year mark sheet in original to the office on or before August 31, 2018.

How to Apply :Candidates need to submit the completely filled-in admission application form and the necessary documents as specified in the form along with admission application fee of `1500/-payable in cash if submitting in person or via Demand Draft in favour of Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, payable at Pune. Selection Procedure:The selection process for MPG-14 comprises of a descriptive written test followed by a detailed personal interview.

Final Result & Admission offer: The offer letter of the selected participant is emailed and information is also conveyed telephonically within two working days of the selection process.

Admission Confirmation: The selected applicants for MPG-14 need to pay the first installment of the course fee i.e. ` 1,50,000/- (` 1,000/- non-refundable in case of withdrawal of admission on or before July 31, 2018) to confirm their admission.

Evaluation System: Students will be evaluated on a continuos basis trimester-wise on different topics, field visits and their internships.

Certificate: After successful completion of this one - year program, a Master's Program in Government (MPG) Certificate will be issued in the Convocation Ceremony.

Model Parliament: The participants enact a model parliament, emulating the proceedings of the parliament.

Campaign Management Studies: Campaign management studies are conducted each year in one of the states which are preparing for assembly polls. Students study various political campaigns and the needs and demands of the local residents to try and predict the results of the election.

Field Study/Projects: The participants are required to undertake field visits and projects as a part of their curriculum.

Issue based activity: An issue-based internship and a Rural Development Program with TISS is also conducted during the program.

A brief on MIT-SOG alumni who have contested State Assembly elections so far...D. Vasanth Kumar from 1st Batch (2005-06), Medak dist, Zaheerabad contested 2009 Andhra Pradesh State Assembly elections from Prajarajyam Party which later merged into INC.

Zubair Amanullah Motiwala student of 2nd Batch (2006-07) of MPG contested from Aurangabad on NCP ticket. He is a resident of Aurangabad. He is a member of the father body of NCP. Has been a part of various committees of NCP in Maharashtra. Contested for MLA from Aurangabad east on NCP ticket.

Hemant Bhujangrao Ogale student of 1st Batch (2005-06) of MPG contested from Gondia on INC ticket. He is resident of Ahmednagar. During MPG program at MIT-SOG he got an opportunity to do his internship with Shri Digvijay Singh, former CM, Madhya Pradesh, Senior Leader INC. He has been District President, A'Nagar of Indian Youth Congress. Contested A'Nagar municipal elections and recently as MLA from Shrigonda on INC ticket.

Shekhar Bhaskarrao Borhade student of 3rd Batch (2007-08) of MPG contested from Shirdi on NCP ticket. He is a resident of Shirdi. Has been very active at rural level. Has implemented micro financing schemes at cooperative level for agri farmers and dairy farmers. He has formed cooperatives for the benefit of the rural masses and has led many movements demanding better infrastructure, employment opportunities and good financing schemes from the government. Contested for MLA from Shirdi on NCP ticket.

Adv Sandeep Dattu Katke student of 4th Batch (2008-09) of MPG contested from Dharavi (Mumbai) on BSP ticket. He has established an NGO to highlight & support problems of migrant workers in Mumbai. Contested for MLA from Dharavi, Mumbai on BSP ticket.

Malapti Pawan Kumar from 5th Batch (2009-10) from Tirupati, contested 2014 Andhra Pradesh State Assembly elections from Tirupati on Aam Admi Party ticket.

A HISTORIC PHOTOGRAPHHistory was created on the platform of the 3rd Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad, when Youth Wing Leaders of 10 political parties of India came together to share their views on the future of India and to appeal to the assembled student leaders to join the political process of the country for nation-building to strengthen the democratic fabric of our nation.Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus gave away the ‘Vijigishu Chhatra Sangh Netrutva Puraskar’ to the Youth Wing Leaders. Later, they came together along with Rahul V. Karad to administer the ‘Oath for Strengthening Democracy’ to the student leaders. Seen in the photograph (L to R) are V. GLIMPSES OF BHARATIYA CHHATRA SANSAD 2011-16To revolutionize the mindset of younger generations; and to ignite their spirit to enter public life with a purpose to serve the nation, the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad was launched in 2011. Nowhere in the world have such large number of distinct fertile young minds gathered on a single platform with a singular objective of strengthening the foundation of democracy.
