SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The MIT-SCAN2-BT sensor system provides nondestructive testing of dowel bars in plain concrete pavements. Using a rail-gliding measuring carriage, all deviations of bar positions from the specified position can be determined quickly, precisely and cost-effectively.
Concrete covering, translations, deviations, skew and tilt from the prescribed orientation of the dowel and tie bars can be determined within tenths of an inch precision.

PRINCIPLES OF THE TECHNOLOGY

• The device functions according to the principles of pulse-induction. Its transmitter sends a weak, pulsating magnetic signal.
• The magnetic field is harmless to the surrounding area and does not affect the physical properties of the dowels or of the concrete.
• Similarly Concrete properties do not affect the signal or results (i.e. amount of moisture in the concrete).

PRINCIPLES OF THE TECHNOLOGY

• When the magnetic field comes into contact with metallic objects, it induces eddy currents inside of them. The currents cause magnetic response signals and these magnetic signals are then measured by receivers inside the testing device, and evaluated.
• The measured values are recorded every 20 milliseconds. They are collected in large quantities for a mathematical evaluation.

• The rail system is made out of glass fiber-reinforced plastic.

rail section ends are flush against each other. Small gaps will hang up the Scanner when pulling over them.

OVERVIEW• MagnoProof is used for analysis, visualization and
documentation of measurements of the MIT-SCAN2-BT device on a Desktop PC. It is specifically designed for the analysis of measurements the dowel bars compared to the planned positions.
• Reports reflecting the deviations of the actual dowel bar positions from the planned positions can be created and printed with the software MagnoProof. This post processing application permits the rapid analysis of large quantities of measurements.
• Current Software Version in use is MagnoProof 3.3 with a totally new version MagnoProof 5 just released
