Pick up at your hotel for your departure to Na-ples by motor coach. Naples is the capital city of the Campania re-gion, located at the footsteps of Mt. Vesuvius. It’s a vibrant city that combines a cultural-hi-storical past with pure passion for modern life and breathless views of the Gulf of Naples and its islands. Upon arrival in Naples your English speaking guide will take you for a panoramic walking tour of the historical center which will include major sights such as Piazza del Plebiscito, Gallery of Umberto I and the Royal Palace, to name a few. Lunch (included) will be at a typical pizzeria where you will have the chance to taste a real Naples pizza! After lunch your tour will conti-nue to Pompeii, the city destroyed by the erup-tion of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 B.C. Your guide will walk you through the ruins of the city. The size of the buildings and their perfect preservation will give you an idea of how it must have look-ed like during the Roman Empire. At the end of the tour proceed to Sorrento. Your tour will start with the inside visit of the Coliseum and Roman Forum. After lunch (on your own) you will continue to the Vatican City where your guide will lead you into the Vati-can Museums taking the beautiful Spiral stair-case and continuing through the Gallery of the Tapestries and the Gallery of the Geographi-cal Maps before arriving in the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent fresco of the Last Judgment by Michelangelo. Day 5: Lake Garda - Bergamo - Lake ComoBuffet breakfast at the hotel.The first stop will be in Bergamo surrounded by medieval walls. By funicular we will the upper old-town and walk to Piazza Vecchia where the Baptistery, the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore with the Colleoni Chapel and the Palazzo della Regione create an unique ensemble. Continue to the Lake Como area. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Lake ComoBuffet breakfast at the hotel.This morning we will tour the old-town of Como and see the Cathedral, the Town Hall and Piazza Cavour. After lunch (on your own) we will reach the village of Tremezzo and visit Villa Carlotta (entrance fees included). The Villa boasts a magnificent park of rare plants and art.We continue by boat to Bellagio for a walking tour. Return to the hotel by motorcoach. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Lake Como - Lugano - Lake MaggioreBuffet breakfast at the hotel. This morning we will travel to Lugano in Swit-zerland. Enjoy the Belvedere Garden with camellias, magnolias, many subtropical plants as well as modern works of art. We will continue to Lake Maggiore by bus. With a private boat and an English- speaking guide, we will visit the Borromean Islands: Isola Bel-la, with its Baroque Palace and beautiful gar-den, and Isola dei Pescatori, a picturesque fi-shing- village.

Day 6: Sestri Levante – Rapallo – Cinque TerreBuffet breakfast at the hotel. Travel to Levanto where we will board the train to Riomaggiore and enjoy a full day excursion to the Cinque Terre. Visit Riomaggiore with its multicolored houses facing the sea, and its small square. By boat you will reach the village of Manarola, set on a high rock 70 meters above the sea. It is one of the most romantic villages of the area. By boat you will travel on to Monterosso. This is the largest of the five villages and fea-tures amazing beaches, crystal clear waters and beautiful reefs. In the afternoon you will return to Levanto by train. From Vernaz-za we will continue to Corniglia passing by oli-ve-groves and vineyards. After visiting the vil-lage we will continue by boat to Riomaggiore. We will walk along the promena-de and through the pretty vegetation until the bay of San Fruttuoso where the hike gets a little steeper. By boat we will reach Camogli, a lovely harbor town with intricate alleys.Return by train to the hotel, dinner and over-night.

Day 3: Punta Manara and Pesto cooking-classBuffet breakfast at the hotel.This pretty scenic hiking-path starts in Sestri Levante and goes to Punta Manara. After our ascent we will reach the crest of Mandrel-la from which we can enjoy a panoramic view over Sestri Levante and the Petronio Valley. Splendid Palaces and towers show the wealth of this city, fa-mous also for the production of paper, wool and glass. Colle is today above all known for its glass and lead-crystal industry. We will hike over graveled roads, farm roads and gentle hills. We will take the old Franks Road that was taken in 990 by the Archbishop of Canterbury for his pilgrimage to Rome. Day 5: Discovering Siena - on the tracks of the water-springsBuffet breakfast at the hotel.In the city of the Palio horse race we will take off-the-beaten-track streets and disco-ver hidden-away medieval alleys and squares unknown to most tourists. We will visit Sie-na by following the tracks of the famous Sie-na water-springs. In the city there are sever-al complex water systems as Siena did not have any natural water sources. We will start our walking tour at the Branda fountain which is close to Via Galluzza and its pretty arcades.Our next destination will be the famous Piaz-za del Campo, in the middle of which the Fonte Gaia gushes. The Sieni family operates a small much much renowned wine-ry in this medieval village. The famous explo-rer, Amerigo Vespucci, who discovered a great part of South America, was apparently born in Montefioralle.We will continue to the Romanic Church of San Cresci, which was built in 963, and is most ap-pealing in its simplicity. Along a gravelled path we will reach Zano and then go back to Greve. We will stop to get our strength back en route with a glass of Chianti and a snack. Return to Siena. Day 3: Hiking to San Galgano Buffet breakfast at the hotel.The hike goes through the hilly landscape to the famous Gothic Abbey of San Galgano, which remians a simple ruin today. The roof with its impressive vaults has now caved in and grass has grown on top of the floor of this for-mer place of worship. The mystic round cha-pel of Montesiepi can still be seen - this is where St. Galgano threw his sword at a stone, renounced his violent life as a knight, and li-ved as a hermit. Day 4: Valdobbiadene and the Prosecco Wine RoadBuffet breakfast at the hotel.Yesterday we sampled the local grappa, and today we will taste some sparkling wine. The wine region of the Prosecco Superior DOCG stretches from Conegliano to Valdobbiadene in the north of the Province of Treviso. Here the mighty Dolomites start to appear, and cyclists will be taken by surprised by the sudden chan-ge of scenery: a new landscape will open up. A natural amphitheater of alternating steep and gentle slopes, dominated by never-ending vineyards. In this sun-drenched land of the Marca gioiosa et amorosa, everything smells of wine.The century-old wine culture has shaped the landscape and the soul of this area. In Folli-na we will visit the impressive Cisterian Ab-bey with its lovely cloister, the Monastery and the Basilica. We will visit Villa Barbaro which was built by Architect Andrea Palladio between 1550 and 1560 and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here a tasting of regional wines and local delicacies will be awaiting us. Day 3: Bassano and Marostica - cycling on the Cherry hillsBuffet breakfast at the hotel.Today we will depart from our hotel in the direction of Marostica, the town of cherries and the human chess-game that takes place in the main square every two years. Without too much effort we will ride our e-bikes over the hills and take in the wonderful views. We will also see some Palladian Villas. On the way back

along the River Brenta passing by medieval ru-ins, to Borgo Valsugana with its imposing Ca-stel Telvana.The path will go through the beautiful old town, through orchards and fields, until we reach Castelnuovo with the lovely Church of S. Margherita dating back to the 15th cen-tury, and then on to Selva and to Primolano. The entire route is slightly downhill: along the well-maintained cycle-path there are many rest-areas and “Bicigrills” inviting you to make a pleasant break. Borgo Valsugana has been the 17th leg of the Giro d’Italia cycle-race for many years. On our last leg we will slowly leave the mountains, reach the Po Valley and Bassa-no del Grappa.Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

We will reach by bus the village of Vicopisano, a tiny medieval village rich in historical buil-dings: 12 medieval towers, two historical pa-laces from the 12th century, a medieval castle that was designed by the famous architect and painter, Brunelleschi, and a Romanic church from the 12th century.We will cycle along the river toreach the wor-ld-famous city of Pisa. Day 5: Lucca - Torre del lago and PucciniBuffet breakfast at the hotel.Our third excursion will take us to discover the famous art city of Lucca and birthplace of the great composer Giacomo Puccini. On a walk th-rough the old-town we will be able to admire the many churches, such as the Cathedral of San Martino and San Frediano. After tasting the famous local cookies, Buccellato, we will cycle along the circular city-walls and from here along the River Serchio to the Balabano Pass. With a wonderful sight of the picturesque castle of Nozzano we will start off towards the sea with a lovely view over Lake Massaciucco-li, where Giacomo Puccini used to hunt ducks. In the afternoon we will travel by bike through the area of the Regional Park of Migliarino un-til we reach the sandy dunes on the coast. Re-turn to the hotel by bus, overnight.

The first leg of our trip will takes us over the gentle hills covered by grapevines and through pretty local villages to Pietra Castle. Here there will be a short detour (a round-trip of approx. 3 miles) to visit the ruins of the medieval castle and to enjoy the view from the top.Afterwards we will cycle on to Lake Accesa. Legend has it that a village once sunk into the earth where the lake now stands. On the lake- shore there are indeed Etruscan ruins and the whole area is considered a natural paradise.We will cycle further to the Nature Park of Mon-tioni, an island of green hills covering over 7000 hectares, which is also archeologically and historically important. The last miles will take us to the high-spot of the day: Massa Ma-rittima, which despite the name is not on the sea band is famous for its charming skyline. We will enjoy an aperitif here with a view of the beautiful town-square.

Day 3: On the traces of wineBuffet breakfast at the hotel.By bus we will reach the medieval village of Pra-ta, located approx. 6 miles from our hotel. The view from here is breathtaking as it stretches over the Maremma countryside with its chest-nut-trees and grapevines, and on a clear day, you can see as far as the coast. Our tour will start from here, through grapevines with their wonderful fragrance. The highlight of the day will be Montemassi, a medieval village with an imposing castle which was besieged many times in the 14th and 15th centuries. We will visit the castle and its cellar and learn about the process of wine production and bottling. At the end of the tour we will enjoy a snack of local products with wine-tasting. Invigorated, we will cycle back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Today we will visit Treviso its Cathedral and Baptistery. We will then explore the Prosec-co Wine Road, Italy's first wine-road. It begins in Conegliano and crosses the gentle hills co-vered by lush vineyards for 29 miles through the areas of Piave and Valdobbiadene. If pas-sing by on a Monday we suggest a visit to the lively farmers' with its local delicacies. A visit to a local winery with wine tasting will round off the day. Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

Day 4: Verona and Reggio EmiliaSpecialties of the day: rice and Soave wineBuffet breakfast at the hotel. Explore the town of Romeo and Juliet, Verona. Tour Piazza Bra’ with its magnificent Roman amphitheater, Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza dei Si-gnori, and the shopping street Via Mazzini. In the afternoon, our tour will take us to a rice farm near Isola della Scala, where we will see how rice is refined traditionally, and then sam-ple various rice products. After our visit we will proceed to Reggio Emilia. Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

In the afternoon we will visit the Castles of Soragna and Fontanellato. The castle of Fontanellato is famous for its Wedding-Room, the “Saletta di Diana e Atte-one” and the Optical Room. Villa Taranto - Lake Maggiore

This beautiful garden was designed by the Scottish captain McEachern in 1931 and spans an area of ca. 16 hectares. Strewn between the terraces, ponds, fountains and waterfalls is a wonderful botanical garden with more than 200 different varieties of plants, which yield a won-derful display of lavish blooms from spring to autumn.

Giusti Garden - Veneto

Goethe was not alone over this garden. Featu-ring lawns, fountains, statues, labyrinths and belvederes, it offers a magnificent view of the city of Verona and the broad plains that conti-nue until the Apennines.

Ninfa - Rome, Lazio

Italy’s arguably most romantic garden arose amongst the ruins of a walled medieval city, which was abandoned in the 14th century and unearthed about 100 years ago. The ruins of houses, churched, workshops and the fortress appear completely overgrown with roses and other fragrant plants. Countless small creeks and canals flow through the garden, so that run-ning water can either be seen or heard all across the grounds. The garden of Ninfa was allowed to develop spontaneously amidst the medieval ru-ins without following a formal plan. There are no labels on the plants, no statues or artefacts from the dream like atmosphere. This garden is unique, once an abandoned medieval city, now conquered by beautiful plants.

The Kolymbetra Garden - Sicily

This garden is considered an archaeological and agriculture gem. When the FAI acquired the grounds it breathed new life into Kolymbetra. Today, on the 5 hectares of gardens at the edge of the temple of Castor and Pollux, visitors can once again admire magnificent oranges trees, flowering prickly pears and numerous other herbs and flowers.

The Sigurta’ Park - Veneto

The park, which belongs to among the most be-autiful in Europe and spans over an area of 50 ha. It was created by Count Carl Sigurta’. Through irrigation with water from the Mincio, within 40 years the formerly dry land was transformed into a green oasis. The park has only been open to visitors since 1978, and today the entrance fee partially finances its upkeep. The great, wide open spaces, the gorgeous colors of the flowers and blossoms and the shimmering water make it a paradise under the open sky.

The Landriana Gardens - Rome, Lazio

Marchesa Lavinia Taverna began planting this garden in the 50s. Later she hired the English landscape architect Russel Page, who began systematically designing the garden in 1967. What makes this garden unique is that it is di-vided into many different “rooms”, each with its own special assortment of plants.

The gondola seems at first sight to be a simple construction, like a folded palm leaf, but it is indeed a very complicated boat. Eight different types of wood are used for each part of the Gondola, amongst which holly oak, pine, wal-nut and cherry. In the oldest gondola shipyard next to the church of St. Trovaso you will learn more about this traditional means of transport and how the gondolas are built.Just like the gondolas, masks are also a symbol of Venice. You will visit a mask-workshop and witness the production of this handmade craft. Today there are only four of these ateliers still active in Venice.Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Holy Year 2016Pope Francis declared the Holy Year of Mercy

It is scheduled to last from 08 December 2015 till 20 November 2016.

The last Holy Year was proclaimed in the year 2000 by John Paul II. Since 1450, Jubilees are usually every 25 years and therefore this upcoming one will be an extraordinary Holy Year.

The opening ceremony will focus on the opening of the Holy Door in Saint’ Peter’s basilica. The door will be freed of the brick wall which has hidden it since the Holy Year of 2000.

Holy Doors will also be opened at the other major basilicas of Rome: St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major, St. Paul’s Outside the Walls.

For the second anniversary of his election Pope Francis declared that 2016 will be the Holy Year of Mercy.

In additi-on to its beautiful rose garden, this church has two important areas: the Porziuncola, where St. Francis founded his order (Franciscans), and the Capella del Transito, which is the pla-ce of his death Return to the Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Assisi - Siena - Assisi Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Today we will drive to Siena, the birthplace of St. Cathe-rine, and St. Bernardine. We will tour Piazza Del Campo, the Cathedral and Basilica of St. Francis. This Basilica is the site of a miracle: In 1730 a miracle happened here. The cons-ecrated Hosts were stolen, but two days later the exact number of Hosts were found in the tabernacle, and since then they have not been consumed. Day 5: San Giovanni Rotondo - Monte Sant’angeloBuffet breakfast at the hotel. Today we will discover the life and miracles of the Franciscan Padre Pio da Pietralcina. We will have Mass in the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie where Padre Pio lived. The Franciscan friars, will te-ach us about his life. Next we will go to Monte Sant'Angelo, one of the most ancient Christian shrines, dedicated to the Archangel Michael who appeared here in the 5th and 8th centu-ries. Return to San Giovanni Rotondo. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: San Giovanni Rotondo - Monte Cassino - RomeBuffet breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Rome with a stop in Monte Cassino for a guided visit of the Benedictine Abbey. The abbey was founded by Saint Benedict of Norcia in the 6th century and has been destroyed four times, but still serves as home to the Benedictines. We will arrive in Rome and have a guided visit of the Basilica of St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, where the Apostle is buried. Here we will also celebrate Mass. Following Mass we will explo-re the ancient Rome, starting from the Palati-ne and Capitoline Hills we will reach the Impe-rial and Roman Forums, the Hippodrome and Constantine’s Arch. We will stop in front of the Colosseum for an outside visit. Check in at the hotel. After dinner, we will enjoy a panoramic tour of Rome by nigh, including a walking tour from the Pantheon to the Trevi Fountain.

Day 7: RomeBuffet breakfast at the hotel and guided vi-sit of the basilicas of St. Mary Major, the most important church in the world devoted to Our Lady and we will celebrate Mass. We will visit St. John Lateran, the Pope’s cathedral with the relics of both Peter and Paul. We will enter the church of the Scala Santa and the Holy Stairca-se which is believed to be a staircase from Pila-te’s palace in Jerusalem and brought to Rome by St. Helen in the 4th century. Time at lei-sure for a lunch on your own. In the afternoon, we will walk around the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon. Day 1: Rome - Orvieto - Bolsena - SienaArrival in Rome and drive to Orvieto in the Um-bria region. Here we will admire the site of the Eucharistic miracle, including the Blood Sta-ined Stones and the Sanctuary of St. Cristina near Bolsena. We will visit the sculptures and mosaics of the Cathedral and celebrate Mass. Lunch at local restaurant. We proceed to the Palace of the Popes and the National Archaeo-logical Museum in the Palazzo Soliano. Our day continues with a visit of Siena in Tuscany. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Siena - AssisiBuffet breakfast at the hotel and guided vi-sit of Siena. We continue to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria in Provenzano to look at the cross from which St. Catherine received the stig-mata. Our Mass will be celebrated in the Cathe-dral. From Tuscany we will go back to Umbria and arrive in Assisi. Time at leisure for lunch on your own. Here we will visit the Basilica of St. Clare, the foundress of the Poor Clares nuns with the crucifix that spoke to St. Francis. We will proceed to San Damiano where Fran-cis wrote the “canticle of the Sun” and enter the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli with its rose garden, the Porziuncola, a tiny church where St. Francis founded his order (Fran-ciscans), and the Capella del Transito, which is the place of his death. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.

Day 3: Assisi - Macerata - LoretoBuffet breakfast at the hotel followed by a gu-ided visit of the lower basilica of St. Francis with its beautiful frescoes by Cimabue and Gi-otto. Here we will celebrate Mass. We depart for Loreto with a stop in Macerata to enter the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, where an Eucha-ristic miracle, happened in the 14th century: a priest torn by the doubt that Christ was really present in the Eucharist, saw the host bleed in the chalice. We will arrive in Loreto for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Loreto - Lanciano - San Giovanni RotondoBuffet breakfast at the hotel. Loreto is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Ita-ly. Tradition says that angels moved here the house that had been the Holy Family’s home in Nazareth. We will pray in the Sanctuary of the Holy House. We will drive to Lanciano where during the celebration of a Mass, the host tur-ned into flesh and the wine into blood. We will
