    Real People. Real Opportunity.

    Lisa Althoff, Executive Director

    Missouri Womens Council

    Dear Friends,

The Missouri Womens Council is pleased to offer the Womens Resource Guide. The Womens

Resource Guide is a directory of programs, services and websites related to issues of interest for

women. It is our hope that this guide will serve as a valuable source for addressing the needs and

    concerns of women in Missouri.

It is the intent of the Missouri Womens Council to work closely with other agencies and community-based organizations to build awareness, educate, promote opportunities for, and enhance the lives and

well being of Missouris women and families. By providing information and resources to enhance the

employability and skill development of women and families, women are given the support needed to

    pursue economic goals and dreams.

With all of the issues facing women, it is an inspiration that we have achieved so much and continue

evolving into the fastest-growing, most formidable force in business and the workforce. However, we

still have a way to go, and can always use additional resources to help us achieve our goals. That is why

the council has developed the Womens Resource Guide. The original version of this document arose

from requests received from individuals seeking the councils assistance. The current version now

contains a comprehensive list of organizations and groups to help achieve the Missouri Womens

Councils mission, which is to promote the economic success of Missouri women by connecting women

    to information and resources.

I wish to thank Governor Jay Nixon and David Kerr, Director of the Missouri Department of Economic

Development for their continued support of the Missouri Womens Council. I would also like to thank

the Missouri Womens Council board for making this guide a reality.

Most of all, I want to thank you, the citizens of Missouri, for realizing that when womens lives are

improved, the lives of their children, their families, their communities, and their state are also enriched.

    Sincerely,

    Lisa B. Althoff, MBA
