A t M B O T , t h i s i s esp ec i ally t r ue.As many of you know, our longstanding President & EO, Sheldon eiba, resigned his position over the summer to take up the crucial role of ice-President, Network and Membership elations with the Ontario hamber of ommerce (O ). In his new role, Sheldon will continue to play a key role in the growth of the hamber Network in Ontario and MBOT’s ongoing ties with the O will remain v er y st r on g .

I had the privilege of a ending MBOT’s farewell celebration for Sheldon on August 17. The MBOT o ces were filled with well-wishing members, guest and local dignitaries. Mayor Bonnie rombie spoke elo uently about the strong ties between MBOT and the ity, which are a lasting testament to Sheldon’s stellar e orts. Numerous presentations were made, including from the Ambassadors

ommi ee and from MBOT’s sta , which re ected the MBOT community’s genuine appreciation for S h eld on . The la er part of August following Sheldon’s departure meant that MBOT sta had to manage ongoing operations through a transitional period a test which they passed with ying colours - and a thorough selection process for MBOT’s next President & EO. As hair of the Selection ommi ee, I was astounded by the exceptional uality of the candidates who applied for the position. My role was made very easy by the combined talents of the Selection ommi ee, which included Past- hair Grant

lark of Solutions For , ice- hair (Policy) Peter Nogalo of A I anada, Treasurer Mike Szymanski of U n i First and Director ivi White of B . I was very impressed by the professionalism and dedication of all of the Selection ommi ee Members, who approached the task with great care and diligence. I thank each of them for their timely service to MBOT.

Following much deliberation, the Selection ommi ee was pleased to announce on September 2 t h e ap p oi n t m en t of D av i d W oj c i k as t h e n ew P r esi d en t & C E O of M B O T . From an events perspective, Fall 2015 is shaping up to be very busy at MBOT. We hope to see many of you out at Mayor rombie’s first Mayor’s Annual Address on September 22 and at the MBOT Business Awards of Excellence dinner on November 19. There are many, many ways for you to take advantage of all of the networking opportunities and resources o ered by our M B O T . B est w i sh es f or a successful and prosperous Fall 2015!

It is with unbridled enthusiasm that I take the o ce of President & EO of our Mississauga Board of Trade. I have had the great pleasure of being part of MBOT as a member, commi ee chair, Manager and contractor in the past. Now serving as your EO, I look forward to new heights for our organization.

My sincere gratitude goes to all our volunteers. From our Board of Directors to the commi ee chairs, commi ee members and service contributors. Without these members who give countless hours of their time to elevate, support and promote MBOT, it would not be possible for us to survive. A special vote of thanks is extended to our 2015 hair, e rey Percival. e rey pulled double duty since Sheldon announced he would be heading to the Ontario hamber of ommerce.

I would need the entire magazine to thank the MBOT sta , who have always excelled in the execution of their duties and have risen to even greater heights while the Board searched for a new

EO. I am especially excited to work with the team on a day to day basis again.

I would like to thank my friend and predecessor, Sheldon eiba for the outstanding contribution he made to MBOT over the past seven years. Many challenges faced Sheldon, when he accepted the leadership role. Through his steadfast stewardship, our organization has surpassed many milestones and we now en oy a solid financial footing and an integral place within the business community. I am also very pleased to know, that although Sheldon has le the building to oin the O , we will continue to work closely on many pro ects and programs to benefit our Board of Trade.

It is said the leader of a country has 100 days to make their mark and set the tone for their leadership. A EO has 90. I am very happy to report, there are NO critical issues that re uire my a ention in this first 90 days, thanks to the Board of Directors, Sheldon and the MBOT team. So, my first 90 days will be filled with the wonderful task of engaging with business, community and political leaders to seek their feedback on the pressing issues of the day and how those issues a ect our members. The fall is always a very busy time for events, both inside and outside MBOT. I will use these opportunities to continually raise awareness for the MBOT value proposition and promote our talented members. Finally, I’m looking forward to seeing our veteran members and meeting our new and proposed members. I will be present at as many of our events and commi ee meetings as humanly possible. I encourage you to provide your thoughts, comments and ideas on how we can create a truly exceptional business community to help you succeed.

The upcoming year is primed and ripe with incredible opportunities for Mississauga Board of Trade and our members. et’s work together to make it a banner year for everyone.

Sincerely,

P R E S I D E N T ’ S R E P O R T
