Teresa’s Tidbits HowtobemoreProductive~thatisthegoldenquestion.Assillyasitmaysound,doinglesshelpsyouaccomplishmore.Whenwasthelasttimeyou inishedeverything,thelasttimeyouthought,“I’msoproductivethatIgotitalldone”?Whatifproductivitywasnotaboutgettingthemostdone,butgettingthemostimportantdone?Whatifproductivitywasnotaboutdoingitfast,butdoingitwell?Inthepast,IoftenhadmoreprojectsonmyplatethanIshould,whichresultedinafewun inishedprojects.Slowly,Iamlearningtotakeoneprojectatatimeandhopefully,oneday,Iwillhavethemcompleted.IfoundafewtipsthatIhopewillhelpyou,bothatworkandhome:
LetitgoWeseemtoaddthingstoourlivesandrarelytakeawayanything.Makea“Letitgo”listtoclearawaythethingsthatarelessimportant.Reviewthislisttomakeroomforthethingsthatarepriority,andthenworkdownthelist.RestWithoutrest,youcan’tdoyourbestworkandyoucan’tgivefullytoyourwork,friendsorfamily.Youarelesscreativeandmotivatedwhenyoudon’trest.JugglingDoyoufeellikeyouarealwaysjugglingthingsatworkandhome,thenfeelguiltyandunworthybecauseyoudidn’t inishthem?Whatifyouintentionallyremovedthemfromyourjugglingact?SayNoIfyouarefeelingoverwhelmed,respectfullydeclineaddingonemorethingtoyourplate.Saynoandgiveyourselfabreak.MeasuringyourworthAttheendoftheday,doyoulookatyourtodolistandifeverythingisnotcrossedoff,doyoufeelyouhavefailed?Instead,lookattheitemsthatyoudidcompleteandtakeprideinthefactyouaccomplishedsomethingthatday.Chooseless,doitwellandgetitdone.
ThismonthisNationalCancerAwarenessmonth.Thisissomethingdeartomyheartasmymotherwasrecentlytreatedforbreastcancer.Ifyouknowofsomeonewhoisbattlingorbeatthisdisease,pleasegivethemahug.Whatabrave ighttheyhavefaced!

IrenehasworkedatOlympus,Cyprus,Granite,andHunterHighSchools.ShesaysthatGraniteDistrictisagreatplacetowork.Thestaffisef icientandhelpfulanditisapleasuretoworkandassociatewiththeoutstandinggroupofteachers,administratorsandstaffatHunterHigh.Inhersparetimesheenjoysmusic,plays,travelingtoandvisitinghistoricalsitesandspendingtimewithherfamily.

LaurieAtkinsisthefrontof icesecretaryatKearnsHighSchool.ShehasworkedforGraniteSchoolDistrictfor9years.Shestartedhercareerin2006withtheYESSprogram,currentlysheisbeginningherthirdyearatKearnsHigh.Shesaysthestudentbodyandstaffaregreattoworkwithandshelovesherjob.Shehasbeenmarriedfor23yearsandhas5childrenand8beautifulgrandkidsrangingbetweentheagesof10yearsto9months.ShehasonemorechildgettingmarriedonOctober23rdandthenallofherkidswillbemarried.Sheenjoyscamping,hiking,snowshoeingandbikeridingwithherfamilyandlovestoworkinheryard,decorateherhouseandhangoutwithherhusband.

LindsayFidleristhesecretaryfortheHomeHospital/HomeSchoolingDepartment,whichislocatedintheGraniteConnectionsHighbuilding.ShehasworkedforthedistrictsinceJuly,2004andhasbeenanappointedmemberoftheUCET(UtahCoalitionforEducationalTechnology)Boardsince2008.Someofherhobbiesandinterestsinclude;crocheting,playingthepiano,tinkeringwithtechnology,reading,digitaldesign,andmostimportantlyspendingtimewithfriendsandfamily.

FarmInsuranceCompanyinDeer ield,IllinoisatthetimeandchoseOctober16,whichwasherfather'sbirthday.Shewasworkingforherfatheratthetime.Thepurposeofdesignatingaspecialdayintheworkplacewastoshowtheappreciationshethoughtherbossesdeserved.Thiswasalsoastrategytoattempttoimproveintra‐of icerelationshipsbetweenmanagersandtheiremployees.NationalBoss'sDayhasbecomeaninternationalcelebrationinrecentyearsandnowisobservedincountriessuchasAustralia,India,Ireland,andEgypt.

CustomerServiceWeekiscelebratedannuallyduringthe irstfullweekofOctoberwhencustomer‐orientedorganizationsandinstitutionsaroundtheworldrecognizetheimportanceofCustomerServiceExcellenceintheirorganizations.OrganizationsandinstitutionsthatparticipateinCustomerServiceWeekcarryoutspecialactivitiestohighlighttheimportanceofgreatcustomerexperiencestothesuccessoftheorganizationandreinforceacustomer‐focusedculture.
CustomerServiceWeekcelebrationshavebeenrunningsincethelate1980s.IntheUSA,theUSCongressproclaimedtheCustomerServiceWeekanationallyrecognizedeventin1992.Financial,healthcare,insurance,manufacturing,retailing,hospitality,communications,notforpro itandeducationalinstitutions,aswellasgovernmentagencieshaveparticipatedasawaytohighlighttheimportanceofCustomerService.
TheGraniteWayincludesstandardsforcustomerservice.DuringtheweekofOctober5th,selectonestandardthatneedsimprovement.
