In addition, it is the role of Student Affairs to strengthen organizational collaboration among College departments to support student enrollment, retention and success. Purpose Statements for Student Affairs Admissions and Records The purpose of Admission and Records is to provide students with easy access to college opportunities. It is our goal to initiate and maintain ongoing communications that will ensure smooth transitions from enrollment to career and educational goal attainment, college graduation to college/university life and the workplace, and establishes the college as a resource for lifelong learning. Advising & Counseling College Wide To advocate for the successful navigation of learning by creating a variety of developmental opportunities for student engagement, with targeted milestones. To assist students in developing meaningful educational plans that are compatible with life goals. To provide students with individualized services that assist in negotiating the hurdles of college life, establishing personal identities and life goals. Staff attempt to enhance students' feeling of connectedness to the world and college by helping them explore their options, make decisions, and develop personal responsibility for career, personal and life goals. Answer Center The purpose of the Answer Center is to facilitate student learning of our enrollment processes in order to meet their goals. Atlas Access Group College Wide The purpose of the Atlas team is to facilitate students learning of the Atlas tools and LifeMap resources as they navigate their Valencia educational journey from college transition to lifelong learning. (5/6/13) Atlas/Banner Team It is the purpose of the Atlas and Banner technical teams to develop, maintain, and improve systems that support the educational journey and lifelong learning of students by empowering them to access and successfully utilize Atlas tools and other technology in the achievement of their goals. Mission Statement for Student Affairs It is the mission of Student Affairs to encourage and engage students to fully participate in their educational progress through empowerment, planning and partnerships that result in successful completion of their career and educational goals. Career Development Services

The Career Centers contribute to the academic and career success by providing services and resources that allow students to explore career options, set career & personal goals and develop employability skills.

College Transitions

AVP College Transitions Strengthen communication and partnership with Orange County Public Schools, Osceola District Schools, Orange and Osceola Education Foundations, Tech Prep/ Career Pathways, Early College/Dual Enrollment, Transition Services, Take Stock in Children, grant funded outreach programs and Bridges to Success so that strategies for removing barriers to college will be consistently implemented and assessed.

Bridges to Success Close achievement gaps among low income, first generation and minority students by providing mentoring, academic and financial support, and leadership development beginning the summer after high school graduation.

Dual Enrollment/ Early College Provide opportunities for high school students to earn accelerated college credit through college level course offerings both at Valencia and at area high school campuses.

Take Stock in Children Provide mentoring and scholarship support for first generation in college, low income students beginning in 7th grade at selected Orange County middle schools.

Transition and Enrollment Services Educate students and the community on the benefits of education, as well as guide and assist in their transition to Valencia.

Enrollment Services

To educate, encourage, support, guide, and assist students’ navigation during the enrollment process and throughout their Valencia career.

Dean of Students (Collegewide)

We strive to: - Build organizational harmony among the different student affairs departments on our campus to work together to support student enrollment, retention and success. - Collaborate with Academic Colleagues to support student enrollment, retention and success. - Maintain safe learning environment on our campuses.

Financial Aid

The mission of Student Financial Assistance and Veteran’s Services is to create successful pathways for student access to higher education by helping students and their families seek, obtain, and make the best use of all financial resources.

Pathways (Title III)

To implement a systemic process to provide increased progression from enrollment to degree completion and transfer, through the expansion and improvement of advising services and related technology tools, as well as faculty and staff resources, in order to more fully meet the needs of the pre-Nursing and Business transfer students on West Campus.

Standardized Testing

To provide students with a professional, supportive, and encouraging testing experience as they transition into, through, and out of their educational journey at Valencia.

Student Development

To create co/extracurricular activities, programs and services that provides opportunities for the students to develop personally, socially and academically.

Students with Disabilities

The OSD exists to determine and ensure reasonable and appropriate accommodations for qualified students with documented disabilities, to assist students in self-advocacy, to educate the Valencia community about disabilities, and to ensure compliance with the ADA and Section 504.
