    SCHOOL NOTES:

    Welcome Sunday

    We invite you to serve!

Two great challenges today face a growing Catholic Churchin this country: the declining number of clergy and the di-minishing level of contributions. Fortunately, two flourishingcontemporary developments have emerged to meet thosechallenges:

More and more lay people are donating a significantportion of their time and talents for building a bet-ter Church and world.

More and more lay people are likewise starting torealize we have all been given an immense gift, ourCatholic faith.

What an amazing privilege to be Catholic and live theCatholic faith with clarity, passion, responsibility, zeal, and

joy. Having been given this treasure, we must be passionateand responsible stewards of the Church.

As passionate and responsible stewards of the Church, welive out our commitment through the witness of our way of

life. However, being good, avoiding evil, is not enough. Weare called to be living members of the Church. It is preciselythrough the passionate and responsible use of our time, tal-ent and treasure that we contribute to the growth and devel-opment of our parish family. Each of us has been empow-ered to be an active member of our parish family and wehave the responsibility to live out our commitment withinour parish.

Let us be filled with gratitude for the great gift of theChurch. Hopefully, the Holy Spirit will bestow upon us a pro-found sense of commitment so that we will be passionateand responsible stewards of our parish family.

We invite you to serve! Please consider giving of your time

and talent to our parish family. Join us on Welcome Sun-day, May 20, 2012.

Welcome Sunday will be targeted to welcome all newregistered parishioners and an open invitation to all parish-ioners to get involve in one way or another with our parishlife. We have many ministries to choose from and every oneof them welcomes you and is waiting for you to become anactive part of our parish family!

MOP and the Parish Youth Group

. are planning our next rummage sale and are now ac-cepting your donations of treasures. We hope this is just intime for your cleaning up projects. Out with the old and inwith the new. ADULT CONFIRMATION

    (WHAT CATHOLICS BELIEVE)

What Catholics Believe is a process of introduction andreview of the basic beliefs of the Catholic Faith. At ourparish this program is our Adult Confirmation Process. Thetwelve sessions of the program are media based and areinteractive quizzes on the Catholic Faith.

Confirmation is the sacrament required to be a Godpar-ent and to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Our classes began on Friday March 2nd at 6:30pm andcontinue into May finishing before our parish celebrationof Confirmation on Sunday June 3rd. Questions? Call BillBischoff at 547-0702.

    SLOW DOWN

How can I hear what Godis saying to me? We tryto listen more closely tothe voice of God withinus. One of the ways for

me to hear Gods voice is by noticing what is going on in

my life, Gods words through reading the Bible, and lis-tening attentively to other peoples stories. God workspowerfully through people helping each other to makeconnections between everyday life and faith.

There is often so little time to notice what is happen-ing to us. A Small Christian Community can be themeans of becoming aware of Gods help within ourlives. A Small Christian Community is a group of 8 to 12adults, or families, who come together, usually in eachothers homes, weekly or every other week to sharesomething of their stories with one another. They also

dig deeper into the Sunday Scriptures to discover Godsstory. They are much like the early church.

The Mission San Luis Rey Core Team invites you toconsider joining an SCC. All cultures are welcomed tojoin or start a group (8 to 12 people). Find out morefrom Eileen Costa (SCC Coordinator), at (760) 231-9930;or Bartolo Mendez at (760) 945-3701; or Tavale Tavaleat (760) 295-4088.

Be a part of bringing the presence of Christs love toyour Family and Mission San Luis Reys Parish Family.

Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright J.
