Its been a wonderful week at the parish as we reflect-

ed together on the Year of Faith with Bishop Michael. Itwas heartening so see so many people come each night

what a great preparaon for Easter! A big thank you to

all the choirs and to those who helped in any way make

our parish retreat a success. Most especially, I wish to

thank Bishop Michael for coming all the way from Hon-

duras to share his reflecons with us and for his joyful

and warm presence at the Mission. Despite the mitre,

pastoral staffand the paraphernalia of his office as bish-

op, he is sll the simple friar he has always been. For me

personally it was marvelous to catch up and chat about

old mes. We are both grateful for our vocaon as friars

and for all the blessings and opportunies God has given

to us. Let us wish Bishop Michael a safe journey back to

La Ceiba he leaves on Monday with our thanks and our

prayers. We hope it will not be his last visit to Mission

San Luis Rey Parish. Thank you for your generosity to him

and for your support of the work in his growing diocese.St. Patricks Day is coming up and we have a Mass

planned at the Parish Chapel for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday

17th March. This will be followed by a Pot Luck in the

Parish Dining Room. Please bring something to share

appezer, entre or dessert. Drinks will be provided. If

you would like to help with the setup in the Dining Room

or in any other way, please call Jim and Diane Manning(our exceponal St. Patricks Day Commiee) at 760-724-3319

A warm welcome to our new Eucharisc Ministers andwe wish them many blessings in their ministry at the par-

ish. We are praying for those preparing for Bapsm atEaster and for all coming into the Church at Easter from

other tradions. Mary Dorso and her outstanding team

in the RCIA Program have done a magnificent job prepar-

ing men and women for the Sacraments. We look for-

ward to a very joyful Easter Vigil again this year.

Our second Reconciliaon Service in Lent will be onMarch 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the Serra Center. Lent is ame when we evaluate our relaonship with the Lord

and ask forgiveness for not being as faithful as we might

be to the Gospel. With about 20 priests to hear confes-

sions on March 19th, we have the opportunity to

acknowledge our faults and prepare well for the feast of

the Lords Resurrecon at Easter.

Next week I will post a list of rehearsal dates and mes

for all who are involved in the liturgies of Holy Week and

Easter. Ministers and Servers please take note and get

the dates into your calendars. Thanks in advance to TomCrowder and Oscar Guinea who as chief ushers will makesure everything runs smoothly in Holy Week.

And finally, welcome home to Fr. Arturo who has beenon vacaon in Mexico with his family. We hope you are

well rested and ready to go Padre!

sion San Luis Rey Parish, Malia Campbell has decided to

go back into the construcon industry. She goes with

our blessing and good wishes. Unfortunately, that means

we must find a new bookkeeper who will be responsible

for both the parish and Old Mission Montessori School.

The successful candidate will be proficient at Quick-

Books, Microso Office Suite and experienced with third-party payroll systems. Posion maintains accounts paya-

ble, receivable, payroll and cash receipts. Dues also in-

clude balancing accounts, ledgers and reconciling bank

statements. Our bookkeeper prepares financial state-

ments and monthly reports as well as budget develop-

ment. Church experience and experience with Parish

Data Church Office system (PDS) is a plus. Ability to work

with parishioners and the public as part of a pastoral

Ha sido una maravillosa semana en la parroquia al reflexionar

en el Ao de Fe junto con el Obispo Michael. Era alentador

ver a tanta gente venir cada nocheque preparacin tan

grande para la Pascua! Un enorme agradecimiento a todos

los coros y a aquellos que ayudaron en cualquier forma para

hacer de nuestro rero un xito. Especialmente, yo deseo

agradecer al Obispo Michael por venir desde Honduras para

comparr sus reflexiones con nosotros y por su alegre y cli-

da presencia en la Misin. A pesar de todas sus responsabili-

dades de su cargo como obispo, l an es el fraile sencillo

que siempre ha sido. Para mi en lo personal, fue maravilloso

ponerse al corriente y charlar sobre los viejos empos. Los

dos estamos agradecidos por nuestra vocacin como frailes y

por todas las bendiciones y las oportunidades que Dios nos

ha dado. Le deseamos al Obispo Michael un regreso seguro a

do a hombres y mujeres para los Sacramentos. Esperamos de

nuevo una gozosa Vigilia de Pascua este ao.

Nuestro segundo Servicio de Reconciliacin Comunal ser elmartes, 19 de marzo a las 7:00 p.m. en el Centro Serra. LaCuaresma es un empo para evaluar nuestra relacin con el

Seor y pedimos perdn por no ser tan fieles como debera-

mos ser al Evangelio. Con veinte sacerdotes escuchando con-

fesiones, nosotros tenemos la oportunidad de reconocernuestras culpas y prepararnos bien para la fiesta de la Resu-

rreccin del Seor en Pascua.

La prxima semana voy a publicar una lista de las fechas y los

horarios de ensayos para todos los que estn envueltos en

las liturgias de Semana Santa y Pascua.
