Congratulations to Ironwood Wealth Management

Chamber Business of the Month for July!

The Ironwood tree is native to West Virginia and has been a staple in the Eastern United States for many centuries. Due to its durability and strength, it was commonly used by American Indians and early settlers to forge a new world. The Ironwood tree grows slowly but surely in the shadows of the big oaks and pines where it’s extremely hard wood and branch structure make it nearly impervious to damage that can harm the bigger less stable trees. While not as big or widely known as some of the larger trees, Ironwood has been called upon when its strength is needed. Ironwood Wealth Management is a financial planning and investment management firm that strives to use their strengths to build trust and understanding while offering thoughtful advice for every client. With their years of service, they were founded upon being the logical choice for wealth management for individuals, families and businesses.

Ironwood Wealth Management traces its roots back to 2001 when founder John Williams who is a CFP® and CIMA®, started his own firm after years at a national investment firm and located in downtown Charleston. In 2009, they purchased a building in Teays Valley and later relocated. Williams and his team consisting of Chris Ashworth, CFP®, Tim Davis and Mary Anna Bird live in the Teays Valley area and have combined experience over seventy years between them. Their firm focuses on Investment Management, Retirement Planning, 401K and other company retirement plans and IRA rollovers. “We are a registered investment advisor with our main service being to manage our clients’ investments based on a percentage of their account rather than commissions for buying and selling products as is so prevalent at other organizations,” he said. He continued “We are an independent investment advisor. There are many people in this profession who are limited by what their employer has made available to them. This is not a limitation for us. We have a lot of freedom and flexibility to sit down with someone and discuss their situation and objectively help them decide what is best for them. Our employer is our client, it is a partnership.” Ironwood Wealth Management recently developed a low cost 401k platform for small and medium size business. It has the bells and whistles found in other 401k plans but at a lower cost. “A typical 401K offered in this area has a total all in cost of around 2% a year. We will be able to provide a 401K in many cases for below 1%. A one percent difference may not seem like a lot but if it’s spread over many years, it can be hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings. All else equal, that savings can mean a lot more money for the participants to retire on” he said. Knowledge and expertise helps sets Ironwood apart from their competitors. John Williams is a Certified Financial Planner™ and is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® which he earned through the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also an Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS®) and a Chartered Retirement Planning Consultant (CRPC®). Chris Ashworth is a Certified Financial Planner™ and an Advisor Associate for the firm. Tim Davis is an Associate Wealth Advisor for Ironwood. Mary Anna Bird worked with John Williams at a national firm many years ago so it was a natural fit for her expertise to assist Williams as Ironwood’s Administrative Assistant and Office Manager. Along with offering expert advice in the fields of investment management and retirement, Ironwood recently began a free complimentary blog website called Smart Financial Future which covers a variety of topics such as personal finance, retirement, 401K, investments, debts, and estate planning along with other financial advice. It can be found at www.smartfinancialfuture.com “Our blog will have fresh original content that we plan on updating frequently and is designed to be educational. We welcome all to sign up for free notifications. A number of people including those who are not clients have already signed up. We have worked hard to set up an environment where we have a partnership with our clients where we are very objective and work in an unbiased fashion. We are not selling our clients anything but our own expertise,” Williams said. If you are interested in a complimentary consultation with Ironwood Wealth Management for your personal situation or company retirement plan, please call (304) 760-6000 or you may visit them at 18 Chase Drive in Chase Park located in Hurricane, West Virginia. To learn more about their services, you may visit them on the web at www.ironwood-wealth.com.

Marketing Tip: Stand Out, Get Noticed & Be Remembered

In creating and building an online presence, ultimately we want to stand out, get noticed and be remembered for the right

reasons.

This requires a thoughtful, strategic, purposeful process and most importantly, consistency.

If you want to get noticed, here are some great ways to do so:

Have a clearly defined visual brand that tells people what you do and what you stand for.

Create a branded business card that delivers that promise.

Build an engaging website or blog site that showcases your mission, vision, value, products, services and spirit.

Develop an integrated marketing and social media platform that you use to connect, engage, interact and serve.

Set up a fully developed and active LinkedIn profile.

Take time to plan and activate a consistent content marketing strategy and delivery system that articulates your content

mission and vision.

Discover in person and face to face professional affiliations that you join and attend regularly.

Find industry conferences, workshops and events that you attend annually for professional development.

Be a mentor and a mentee to advance your professional path.

Volunteer and serve your industry and community.

If you want to stand out and be found, do things and create things for which people will remember you positively. Show

up, join in, get involved.
