hikingLake Como offers an enormous variety of hiking possibilities, from easy walksfor families to the more difficult ones for skilled hikers.

The itineraries we present allow you to discover the old paths which run along the lake, orthe wooded hills with their rural settlements, or to the more scenic heights of the mountainsalong Lake Como.

Il Sereno hiking trail.Discover our second property, Il Sereno Lago di Como, the modern luxury star of the lake, designed by world-renowned Patricia Urquiola.Walking time 30 minutes.

Unguided trails.Starting from Villa Pliniana, you will reach the main street Via Cesare Poggi and from thereyou will be able to follow different unguided trails to sites such as Strada Regia, Torno City Center,San Giovanni Church.

1. Hiking to Montepiatto.This is a short and easy hike suitable for anyone that startsfrom Torno where il Sereno is. Informational pamphletsare located near the trailhead for a self-guided naturehike. This is a “looping trial” with a spectacular view ofthe Lake.

2. Hiking to Alpe di Blessagno. After a short ride on the funicular that goes from Argegno toPigra (in only 5 minutes you will be at 850m above sea level)you will enjoy a breathtaking view of both the Lake and thenearby Alpine foothills of Como. The hike starts in Pigraand then continues in a beautiful forest of hazel trees,to gradually lead you to Alpe Blessagno.

3. Hiking to Brunate – Monte Boletto.The trail is best accessed from Como taking the funicularthat whisks you up to Brunate (in less than 5 minutes youwill be at 500m/1650ft above the sea level). From here,passing first through the village of San Maurizio and thenthrough several chalets (Baite) in a mule path (typical Italianmulattiera) you will reach Monte Boletto.Considering that the mule path becomes rougher towardsthe end and there are a couple of sections that are parti-cularly steep, this hike is suitable for expert hikers.

4. Hiking to San Martino.Starting from Cadenabbia and passing through the pictu-resque village of Griante, you will reach the small mountainchurch of San Martino, perched on top of a cliff above thetown of Griante. The path is narrow and steep. The trackinitially climbs up through a wooded area behind Grianteand then changes to a rocky path.Children can easily do this walk, just be extremely carefulas there is a sheer drop to the side of the path and thereare no barriers. The view of Varenna and Bellagio is alwayspresent. The hike up to the highest point is suitable forexpert hikers only.
