Sports News

On the 25th November, MIS had three separate football teams participate in a football tournament at Yangon United Football Club. Teams came from Network, British School of Yangon and Dulwich College of Yangon. The three teams were our U-9, U-11 and U-13 teams. Each year level played at least three matches. Coach Emmett led the U-13 team to 1st place as they went undefeated and also had the most goals scored out of all the teams. Coach Charles led the U-11 team to 1st place also with an undefeated record. Coach Cory and the U-9 team had 3 draws and one loss, placing 5th. A very good job by all three teams as they have worked hard to prepare for this tournament. Congratulations Griffins!

On Saturday, December 3, the Griffins had their MISAC U-19 Girls' and Boys' Football tournaments. Coach Maureen and the girls played at MIS and Coach Emmett and the boys played at MISY. On the girls side, the Griffins drew a tough pool with both MISY and Network for preliminary games. They lost two close games with scores including 2-0, 1-0. The girls ended up placing 3rd which was amazing for their first year as an organized team. They are a young team and most of them will be returning for the U-15 season.

For the boys, they had six different teams join the tournament including AIS from Mandalay. They had an amazing win over Network which went to a penalty shoot out with the score of 5-4. Their second match was a well deserved win over AIS with the score of 2-0. The boys faced a tough and much older MISY team

in the championship match. With a goal coming from leading scorer Tor, MISY was a little too much for the Griffins as they finished in 2nd place overall with a final score of 3-1. Congratulations to both teams for finishing well and working extremely hard during the season.
