    IntroductionWe have chosen the two recognized company that are doing well in the field of technology andcontributed lot in the field in the IT sector.The company that we have chosen is TCS (TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES) and INFOSYS.

    TCS INTRODUCTIONIt began as the "Tata Computer Centre", for the company Tata Group whose main business was to

    provide computer services to other group companies. F C Kohli was the first general manager. J.

    R. D. Tata was the first chairman, followed by Pankaj Roy.

    One of TCS' first assignments was to provide punched card services to a sister concern, Tata

    Steel (then TISCO). It later bagged the country's first software project, the Inter-Branch

    Reconciliation System (IBRS) for the Central Bank of India. It also provided bureau servicesto Unit Trust of India, thus becoming one of the first companies to offer BPO services.

    TCS established the first software research center in India, the Tata Research Development and

    Design Center, in Pune, India in 1981. TRDDC undertakes research in Software

    engineering, Process engineering and Systems Research.

    Researchers at TRDDC also developed Master-Craft (now called TCS Code Generator

    Framework ) a Model Driven Development software that can automatically create code based on a

    model of a software, and rewrite the code based on the user's needs.

    Research at TRDDC has also resulted in the development of Sujal, a low-cost water purifier that

    can be manufactured using locally available resources. TCS deployed thousands of these filters inthe Indian Ocean Tsunami disaster of 2004 as part of its relief activities. This product has been

    marketed in India as Tata, a low cost water purifier.

    As a brand, TCS is the 76th Most Trusted Brand according to The Brand Trust Report, 2011.TCS

    has been ranked as the world's 7th greenest company in Newsweek's Green Rankings 2011. In

    addition, TCS is the highest ranked Asia-based company and second highest ranked globally in the

    Information Technology & Services company category.

    Tata Consultancy Services signed a Rs 94-crore deal with the Karnataka government for six-year

    period to automate its treasury and finance department operations. Deutsche Bank has selected

    TCS as a strategic partner for their Production Management Transformation Initiative, within their

    Capital Markets Business Unit. Tata Consultancy Services has managed to receive ten largedeals.TCS is planning to hire 60,000 Employees in Financial year 20112012 TCS has got

    contract from Credit Union Australia. Countrys largest software firm Tata Consultancy Services

    (TCS) has received a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract to provide application support,

    maintenance and development services from US-based Air Liquids.

    A book titled The TCS Story... and Beyond published by the Penguin Group, was authored by S

    Ramadorai, now TCSs Vice-chairman and launched in September 2011.The book covers the 43

    years journey of TCS. On the Last Trading Day of Year 2011, TCS overtook RIL to be anointed as

    the country's most valued firm. On 6 February 2012,TCS signed a multi-year, multi-million euro

    contract with European car rental company Europcar for deployment of IT services in France. This

    partnership is part of the development of a strategic relationship with industry leading companies

    in France.

    INFOSYS TECHNOLOGIES

    Infosys is India's second largest software company and is recognised globally for its world-class

    management practices and work ethics. It offers services like software development, maintenance,consulting, testing and packaging implementation. Infosys offers all these services through its highlyintegrated and globally recognised delivery model. The company's revenues and profits grew at averageannual rates of 26% and 27% respectively during FY05 to FY10.

    Infosys Limited formally Infosys Technologies is an Indian global technology services companyheadquartered in Bangalore, India. Infosys is ranked #27 in the list of top companiesofIndia in Fortune India 500 list in 2011.     Conclusion of the analysis

    TCS business mix has helped in growing faster than Infosys. The banking, financial services and

    insurance (BFSI) vertical forms over 44% of its revenues and when the market rebounded, thebanking sector was the first to recover. Infosys, in comparison, has a much lower exposure of 36%in the sector.

    Infosys underperformance has to do with the telecom vertical it has performed lower than itspotential, Apurva Shah of brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher said. Telecom, a distressed sectorfor the whole IT industry, formed 16% of Infosys revenues in FY10 and de-grew to 12.9% inFY11. On the other hand, TCS had a smaller exposure to the sector. Telecom formed 12.7% of itsrevenues in FY10 and made up 12.1% in FY11.

    HR Analysis of TCS and INFOSYSTCS HR previewPeople are a key ingredient for success in services industries. In particular, the performance ofcustomer facing executives influences customer satisfaction and hence business performance.Medscheme Holdings, the leading medical aid insurance administrator in South Africa, realizedthe significance of human resources in facilitating business growth. In order to have a motivatedworkforce, the company decided to align peoples work objectives with business objectives. Thecompany also realized that aligning outputs, incentives, and pay-to-business objectives wasimportant as was aligning staff development and talent management. Integration of HRsystems was an important pre-requisite to achieve these goals.

    Conclusion of analysis:HR of the TCS is better than that of the Infosys than that of the INFOSYS because of theimplementation of the certain software such as EVA that are transparent enough to the employeeof the employee across the company while the INFOSYS is still using the same 360 degree for theappraisal of the employee.
